Netflix's newest romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This is already proving to be a hit, and the streamer has ordered season 2. Created for the small screen by Erin Foster (loosely based on her own experience), the series follows agnostic podcaster, Joanne (Kristen Bell), who falls for an unorthodox rabbi, Noah (Adam Brody), and their unconventional relationship ruffles more than a few feathers along the way. Exploring some of the taboo topics that are often left out of most rom-coms (namely religious differences), the series turns the genre on its ear with plenty of humor and heart.

With such a fun and open-ended premise, Nobody Wants This had immediate second season potential, and speculation has already begun about where Joanne and Noah are headed next. Even more, the series has proven to be a big hit with critics, and the ending of Nobody Wants This season 1 was anything but conclusive. This sets the stage for an ongoing narrative that could continue in not only one more season, but a multi-season arc on Netflix. As such, the streamer quickly ordered season 2 of Nobody Wants This.

It has been reported that Netflix hopes to have the show filming as early as March 2025, and the series is expected to wrap shortly afterward. No concrete release date has been provided, but judging by the supposed production timeline, it's clear that Netflix wants Nobody Wants This season 2 to return at some point in 2025. Star Adrian Brody has mentioned the month of September 2025 as a potential release window, as well, and this timeline has also been backed up by creator Erin Foster, who told THR that they wanted to release each year at the same time:

Once a year, the same time, we’ll be really consistent. We’re just going to be a Rosh Hashanah launch, always.

Timothy Simons, who plays Sasha Rocklov, has also referenced a desire to get the show out with "regularity", comparing it to other Netflix shows that have become known for long delays between seasons. All of this lines up to suggest that September 2025 is a solid bet for a season 2 release, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.

Nobody Wants This season 1 dropped all 10 episodes on September 26, 2024.

Nobody Wants This Season 2 Cast Details

Will Kristen Bell & Adam Brody Return?

The cast of Nobody Wants This was perhaps its strongest asset, and the chemistry between stars Kristen Bell and Adam Brody has all the hallmarks of a classic rom-com power couple. With that in mind, Bell will need to return as the strong-willed agnostic, Joanne, while Brody should be back as the unorthodox rabbi, Noah. Along with the main duo, the ensemble of Nobody Wants This is just as important, including Joanne's sister Morgan (Justine Lupe), Noah's brother Sasha (Timothy Simons) and Jackie Tohn as Esther, Noah's sister-in-law.

The cast of season 2 has grown with the addition of guest stars, including Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) who is playing Abby, Joanne's middle school enemy who now makes a living as an influencer. Meanwhile, Miles Fowler (Man on the Inside) is playing Lenny, one of Noah's basketball teammates who goes on a date with Morgan. Succession star Arian Moayed will appear as Dr. Andy, a self-confident psychotherapist who is another potential match for Morgan. Alex Karpovsky (Girls) is playing Big Noah, a rabbi colleague of Noah's.

Nobody Wants This Season 2 Story Details

What's Next For Noah & Joanne?

Sasha and Esther smile at each other in the temple in Nobody Wants This

The conclusion of season 1 left the couple on shaky ground at best, and there are still plenty of lingering questions that will need to be addressed in Nobody Wants This season 2. Season 1 ended with Joanne deciding to convert to Judaism, but then walking away when she learned what being the wife of a Rabbi would really mean, and how unprepared she was to take on that role. However, like all good romances, the couple reconnected at the last moment, when Noah followed her and told her that he would put her first - and that she was the priority to him.

Season 2, then, promises to explore their relationship beyond the initial phase, and into more serious territory - including how, exactly, this is going to work. It's not entirely clear if the big romantic declaration means that Noah is going to give up his job for Joanne, although that's heavily implied, so what else he might do could be an interesting angle for the new season.

Family dynamics are also sure to take central stage, as well as the incredibly interesting relationship between Sasha and Morgan. If Morgan was single, it would be clear that the show was angling to have them connect romantically, but as a married man, it's more likely that the show is going to dig into the complexities of their friendship - and how his wife may feel about it. Whichever direction the story goes, it's clear that the new season is going to continue to handle the subject matter with humor and sensitivity, and some phenomenally funny moments.
