Go isn't the only Pokémon inspiration for the franchise, however, with the Monster Hunter: Stories spin-off series having players befriending monsters instead of hunting them, creating individual bonds and utilizing unique abilities through monster versus monster combat. Despite Monster Hunter Stories 2 being a sequel to the first game in the subseries, it can still be experienced entirely on its own without needing any additional backstory, benefitting players that prefer a more refined gameplay experience.

For those that want to experience the main appeal and full gameplay experience of the franchise, World and Rise will be the go-to choice for many players, being the gold standard of what the franchise has to offer. The main choice between the two is based on what players value the most, with World having more weighted combat that's somewhat slower compared to the rise, but has unparalleled levels of immersion and graphical fidelity.
While it's not as visually stunning, the combat in Rise is arguably some of the best in the franchise to date, with extremely fast-paced action and mobility aided by a wide pool of monsters to battle. Regardless of which title players decide to start with, each entry in the Monster Hunter franchise is a full gaming experience bound to come with plenty of hours of enjoyment, especially with friends to hunt alongside them.
