WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 5
Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi "Part V" finds Ewan McGregor's titular Jedi on Jabiim with Darth Vader's Empire in hot pursuit. A desperate rush to save the Path's refugees culminates in a psychological chess match between master and student, and a long-gestating moment of betrayal gone awry.
Obi-Wan Kenobi has already boiled up some sterling Star Wars Easter eggs, with episode 4 proving particularly fruitful for fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Jedi: Fallen Order and Force-sensitive popsicles. Across its entire run, Kenobi's Disney+ solo series has also name-dropped Jedi from Star Wars' past, revealed the origin of Luke Skywalker's favorite toy, and continued a long-running Stormtrooper gag (not about bad aiming, for once).
Episode 5 duly forges ahead with this strong run of Obi-Wan Kenobi Easter eggs. There are flashbacks to the Star Wars prequels, knowing in-dialogue winks, and iconic weapons rarely wheeled out. You can even compare Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 5's premise to a key battle from Disney's sequel trilogy. These are the Obi-Wan Kenobi Easter eggs we found in episode 5.
Attack Of The Clones Era Anakin Skywalker & Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 5 begins with a flashback of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber training on Coruscant, and both Jedi are dressed in their costumes from Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Kenobi dons the sandy white robes Anakin must hate, while Hayden Christensen's character wears darker garb and that shiny waistcoat. The most noticeable detail, however, is undoubtedly Anakin's padawan braid. Because angsty Annie's arms are both intact here, Obi-Wan Kenobi's episode 5 flashback must take place shortly before, or even during, Attack of the Clones.
Anakin Skywalker Is Looking Out Towards Pé
When Obi-Wan finds his tempestuous student looking out towards the Coruscant skyline, Anakin's gaze is directed at a tall skyscraper comprising two connected round-topped structures, one slightly shorter than the other. This architecture is remarkably similar to Pé's apartment building from Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, and it makes perfect sense that this is where Anakin's attention would be drawn. The likeness isn't exact, but it's close enough (and meaningful enough) to be a consideration.
Darth Vader's Devastator Star Destroyer
Ahead of her promotion to Grand Inquisitor, Reva is invited aboard Darth Vader's personal flagship Star Destroyer, the Devastator. Obi-Wan Kenobi utilizes the same shot of Vader standing at the end of a black catwalk on the bridge, while Imperials beaver away in the pits beneath him, as seen in the Star Wars original trilogy and the final moments of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
Aurebesh Writing Confirms Star Wars Legends Jedi
Jedi who escape via the Path leave etchings along the walls of their journey, which poses a massive security risk, but also makes for some fascinating Obi-Wan Kenobi Easter eggs. Written in Aurebesh, this week's scrawlings include "Corwin Shelvay," "Djinn Atlis" and "Roganda Ismaren" - all Force-sensitives who existed in Star Wars Legends canon. There's also "Tiberius," which could potentially point towards Tiberius Anderlock. The message Obi-Wan reads aloud is inscribed underneath the Jedi symbol, and incomplete marks along the top translate to "may the Force be with you."
Obi-Wan Kenobi Finds Jedi Lightsabers & Robes
The Path's base on Jabiim contains trinkets from presumably deceased Jedi - both their lightsabers and their unneeded robes. These must've been recovered along the way as tokens of remembrance for fallen friends, or abandoned by Jedi who gave up their identities to hide from the Empire. The selection of lightsabers doesn't contain any obviously recognizable hilts from established Star Wars lore.
Alien Species & Droids On Jabiim
A bunch of familiar Star Wars faces - both metallic and organic - appear among the refugees of Jabiim. There's an R2 astromech unit working on the base's defense system, and a pair of desperate Trandoshans (Bossk's race) praying for survival. Obi-Wan Kenobi lingers on a Talpiddian (snout-nosed alien) and a Tarsunt (long mouth and facial hair). A Nikto can be briefly spotted rushing past the camera when Obi-Wan Kenobi's ship first lands at the refuge.
Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Holoprojector
Obi-Wan Kenobi receives a holographic message from Bail Organa via a small disc-like device. Known as a Jedi holoprojector, this Star Wars Easter egg can be found throughout the franchise, but Kenobi's model is pulled out by Qui-Gon Jinn when showing Watto a projection of the Naboo royal starship in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.
Roken Uses A Bowcaster
The bowcaster is an iconic Star Wars weapon, but typically only seen in the hairy Wookiee hands of Chewbacca. Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 5 shows the Path's Roken (played by O'Shea Jackson Jr.) also wielding this heavy brand of futuristic firearm. Though it's impossible to determine exactly how Roken came to own such an uncommon peacemaker, the bowcaster's presence suggests a potential link between the early Rebellion and the Wookiees of Kashyyyk.
Obi-Wan Says The "Younglings" Line
A famous moment from Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith sees Obi-Wan Kenobi tell Pé about Anakin "killing younglings." Ewan McGregor looks to be stifling a laugh when he delivers it, sending the scene hurtling into prequel trilogy infamy. In a meme-worthy Obi-Wan Kenobi Easter egg, the Jedi delivers an echo of this quote to Reva, uttering, "He killed the other younglings."
Obi Wan Kenobi Episode 5 Mentions Garel
An Obi-Wan Kenobi Easter egg for Star Wars Rebels fans, as Reva mentions the planet Garel. This famous Star Wars locale memorably appeared throughout the animated series, featuring as early as the first season when Ezra Bridger ed a mission to steal Imperial weapons.
