The villain of the Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, but aside from him, Hayden Christensen is also confirmed to reprise his role as Darth Vader. The pair will once again square off against one another in what Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy dubbed as the "rematch of the century.”
Specific plot details for the Star Wars show are still being kept under wraps, but between what's officially revealed about it and the recently-released Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, the project will see the titular Jedi Master still hiding in Tatooine following Order 66. Ewan McGregor said that Obi-Wan is desolate and hopeless when the show picks up, describing this point as the darkest time in the character's history. This makes his duel with Darth Vader more interesting as both have changed since their last meeting. But based on what's known about Star Wars' history, it's unclear how they will encounter each other.
Surprisingly, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will feature a brand new villain — Reva (Moses Ingram), a Force-sensitive Inquisitor who is sent to hunt down Jedi in hiding after Order 66. Not much else is revealed about the character thus far, but through EW's feature for the show, the actress confirmed that Reva, alongside the Grand Inquisitor (Rupert Friend), s Darth Vader in this mission. Presumably, Reva successfully rattles Obi-Wan out from hiding and she fights the Jedi Master. She fails to capture him, however, but it establishes Obi-Wan's whereabouts, allowing Darth Vader to come in, hoping that he could finish off his former Jedi Master once and for all. This way, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series could focus on Reva as the show's primary antagonist and save the much-anticipated Obi-Wan/Darth Vader fight for the end.
Assuming that The Book of Boba Fett. But it would be more emotionally powerful if somehow, the villain is unmasked during his rematch with Obi-Wan.
With only four episodes, Lucasfilm needs to make sure that Obi-Wan Kenobi's story is as succinct and concise as possible. The show features a lot of characters, some familiar and others entirely new. But in a show that has many moving parts, it should also be careful about losing sight of its titular character. So while the duel with Darth Vader is perhaps the most anticipated part of the series, it's also imperative that it puts a great focus on Obi-Wan's personal arc as he navigates these difficult times.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere in May on Disney+.
