Almost two decades after its original release, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is out, and fans are celebrating all the nostalgic quirks and the faithfulness of the classic title, even when it comes to its technical issues. The original version of Oblivion was full of memorable bugs, glitches, and even its fair share of crashes. Most of those were harmless fun that saw a lot of humorous memes and stories spawn from it.

In a post from LegendaryDrops on X, the notes that the game crashed on them after closing an Oblivion gate and said, "It's just like I it." Another X , PMS Jordan, shared a similar experience with a crash, and said, "Wouldn't be an Elder Scrolls game without a hard crash. God, I missed Oblivion," (via GamesRadar+ and IGN). There is also particular praise being aimed at the game's character creator. In a Reddit post by DeCarn, the captioned a screenshot of an obscure Dark Elf creation and captured it with: "Ladies and gentleman, we're back in business."

Bethesda has evolved over the years, and the company's latest new IP, Starfield, was arguably the least buggy game Bethesda has ever released. Part of the nostalgia charm for a lot of Oblivion remaster players is the classic mid-aughts Bethesda glitches and bugs.

However, not everyone seems to be on the same page in of enjoying the remastered game's current bugs and glitches. In a Reddit post by Sensitive-Tax2230, s are compiling their experiences with the bugs so far in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. There are some game-breaking bugs as well. TelephoneExpert9792 on Reddit has experienced a massive bug in one of the game's tunnels, saying: "I am in the tunnel where the rock wall traps you in shortly after entering the shrine underwater. There is a barrier blocking the other side, leaving me unable to progress.

The Problems With Oblivion Are Part Of The Nostalgia

No game is perfect, and Oblivion was one of the defining games of the open-world RPG genre for years, and still is for many fans. With over 100,000 concurrent players on Steam just hours after its release, so both new and old fans are sure to find a lot of memorable experiences with the game.

While some new Elder Scrolls players might be frustrated with the game's bugs, most long-time fans will appreciate that the 2006 quirkiness of the game has been preserved in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. Hopefully, any game-breaking bugs will be ironed out in patches, while the funny bugs and glitches continue to entertain new and veteran players, even 19 years later.
