In a good sign for a multi-platform future, several Xbox-owned titles did very well on the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle's PS5 release set a new sales record for the title after it made its way to Sony's console, after spending around four months as an Xbox and PC exclusive title. Now, it looks like other Xbox-owned games are also doing well on the PS5, at least digitally.

According to a post from PlayStation Blog that detailed the top PS5 s from the PlayStation Store for April, the three best-selling games in the US and EU were The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, Minecraft, and Forza Horizon 5, all of which are Xbox-owned titles. The top-performing PS4 games were Red Dead Redemption 2, Devil May Cry HD Collection, and Minecraft. Finally, Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate, Beat Saber, and Creed: Rise to Glory - Championship Edition performed well for the PS VR2.

Cross-Platform Is Working For Xbox

day-one Game title, but that isn't stopping fans from purchasing it on PS5. Forza Horizon 5 just released on April 29, despite being available on Xbox since 2021, and it's clear now that there was a lot of PS5 fan demand for the title.

Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard in a $68.7 billion deal back in 2023, and even though the corporation could have considered making games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 an Xbox exclusive, the games are still releasing on other consoles. PlayStation tends to take the opposite approach and make its first-party games exclusive to PS5 and then port them to PC later, but rarely, if ever, to Xbox.

Xbox's Multiplatform Strategy Appears To Be Paying Off

More Game Availability Is Generating More Sales

The games are generating a lot of profit, so the cross-platform strategy seems to be working well for Xbox. Virtually all of Xbox's first-party titles are available on Game as well, so people who own a Series X/S or a PC have easy and affordable access to a lot of Xbox games. Since the games that come over to PS5 (including the ones available on Game ) are doing well independently, it seems like Xbox has found a winning strategy for game releases by making their games as accessible as possible.

Xbox has gone all in on the Xbox Game service, and the result of that seems to be making more games readily available for as many people as possible, regardless of economic status or console preference. This approach has led to a lot of quality titles appearing on PlayStation 5, and making more games available to more people is rarely, if ever, a bad thing. With Xbox-owned games performing well on Sony's consoles so far in 2025, and with a lot of games left to be released this year, it seems Microsoft's strategy is a win for everyone.
