As shows to leave Netflix in 2021, fans are getting in all of the binge-watching that they can, and some typically wacky The Office quotes are again bubbling to the surface. As the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin is clearly a very hostile environment, a lot of the colleagues have been known not to hold back any burns.
Dwight is no different from his workmates, and he might in fact be the most outspoken of the lot. Whether he’s caught up in the middle of a prank war with Jim, not taking kindly to new employees, or generally antagonizing staff for his own pleasure, the beet farmer is full of hilarious insults and one-liners.
How About Icing It, LOL
Attacking Jim with snowballs is one of the reasons it makes no sense that Dwight became manager, but after years of pranks and built up anger, it was more than satisfying to watch Dwight make Jim bleed with snow. After Jim runs into the office, covered in blood and wet from being on the floor, seemingly fearing for his life, he rests in the kitchen. When fixing himself, Jim receives a text from Dwight, which says, “How about icing it, LOL.”
I Had No Idea You Played Soccer Because You Never, Ever Talk About It
Jim is not used to being disliked, as he’s the most lovable character on the show and uses his charm to glide through work, but when Charles Miner stepped in as manager, he saw right through Jim’s games. It led to Jim having to do what everyone else does, suck up. Jim pretended to play soccer just to get Charles’ attention, which is when Dwight hilariously dropped him in it and even set up a match in the parking lot just so Jim could prove his skills.
I Will Require Beer And Pizza To Think This Over... From Jim
Dwight has many peculiar skills that he has procured over the years of being an expert paper salesman and beet farmer, and strangely enough, one of them is parenting. As Pam was struggling to stop Cici from crying, the baby falls asleep as soon as Dwight cradles her, and it’s one of the times Dwight showed great parenting skills.
Pam begged and pleaded with Dwight to keep cradling Cici, and he agreed to do so on the above condition, and Jim had never felt more humiliated as he literally fed Dwight pizza.
Errr, Little Comment
This may not be the cleverest burn of the series, but it’s certainly hilarious, and it’s one of the best running gags of the show, it reached an apex when Jim literally dresses up as him in the soft opening of the episode.
Well, at the end of the episode, Dwight gets his own back, sort of. The beet farmer comes into the office dressed up as Jim, imitating him, but he is showered with compliments from his colleagues, and the only thing he can think of that Jim would say is the above.
These Are Nerds, I’m Eating Jims
Trying to get Jim fired from his managerial role is one of the worst Dwight storylines, but it’s no secret that Dwight has been bitter towards Jim ever since the first season, whether it's huge plots to get him fired or little digs at him. As seen above, Dwight isn’t great at coming up with one-liners on the spot, but here he was quick on his feet. Though it seemed like he bought the candy with the burn-in mind and simply used the candy as a prop.
Speaking Of Funerals, Why Don’t You Go Ahead And Go Die
This scene set a tradition in The Office, as it was the very first of the many times that Dwight and Andy locked horns throughout the series, as the episode saw the merger of the two branches. Though the pair have literally gotten into physical altercations many times, this was truly a battle of wits, as they were riffing off of each others’ previous insults. It all culminated in this terribly put but hilarious insult, and it was some welcome fun for the Stanford branch.
What Can I Say, I Love Justice. You’ve Forced Me To Spend Money On Needless Repairs, And Now You’re Locked In A Prison Bus And Your Woman Drips With Beverage
Dwight is a very inconsistent character, as there are times when he shows that he can be totally empathetic for his colleagues and treats them like family, but there are other times when he wants to see them completely miserable, and this is the latter.
After Dwight has the whole office inside a work bus while the office is under repair, Pam gets the worst of it when coffee is spilled on her. When Jim pleads with Dwight for some sense of humanity, the office building owner just rubs it in his face and points to the fact that it was his fault.
It’s The First Snowfall Of Christmas, Is that Just So Magical To You, Little Girl?
It wouldn’t be a true list of Dwight insults if there wasn’t an entry wherein Dwight calls Jim a girl. It’s an insult that Dwight often falls back on when he can’t think of anything else, but he also uses it when Jim pays a compliment to somebody or when he says something positive. In this case, Jim excitedly tells the office that it’s snowing outside, to which Dwight unnecessarily calls him a little girl.
Kevin, In Sumo Culture You’d Be Considered A Promi And Comer
As great as The Office is, it’s pretty unfortunate that Kevin is so often used as a scapegoat and the subject of so many fat jokes. After Kevin says that he thinks he could actually stand to lose some weight, Dwight puts a spin on it. Though it’s meant to be somewhat of a compliment, it somehow comes off as a double-edged insult, saying that Kevin is terribly overweight.
You Don’t Have Any Friends Or Any Family Or Any Land
Though most of Dwight’s burns are reserved for Jim, Dwight’s very shadiest insult of them all is actually aimed at his hero, Michael Scott. As Michael has forced the whole office to take part in The Roast Of Michael Scott, it isn’t long before Dwight unleashes his wrath. Though it starts off with Dwight singing his praises, it quickly goes from one extreme to another, as Dwight calls Michael a short little man before diving into a tirade about what he doesn’t have.
