The Straw Hats’ journey in the Grand Line gets messy as soon as they make it through the Reverse Mountain with the introduction of Miss Wednesday, who later explains to Luffy what is happening in Arabasta and what Baroque Works is. In an Instagram Stories following Netflix’s Geeked Weekend event, Miss All Sunday actress Lera Abova shared her excitement over ing the cast of One Piece season 2 and cherished the fans who know and love the source material so much. Abova thanked Oda for trusting her with this character and explained what her experience with One Piece before her casting had been. The actress pointed out that, while she was not very knowledgeable about One Piece and Miss All Sunday before getting cast, she was familiar with the “I want to live” scene.

This puts into perspective how important Nico Robin’s “I want to live” line is, to the point even someone who wasn’t very familiar with One Piece had already heard about it. As one of the longest-running manga and anime series of all time, One Piece has been a pop culture phenomenon for a while and includes some characters and events that even those who haven’t watched the show might recognize. Robin’s pledge for help in Enies Lobby can be a fantastic moment in live-action, even more so if everything else before it works.

While it may seem pointless to discuss a Water 7 scene when Netflix’s One Piece is still going through Arabasta, Robin’s “I want to live” scream is the culmination of a character arc that began when she first interacted with the Straw Hats as Miss All Sunday. Chronologically, Robin’s story actually starts way before Luffy forms his crew. Robin had been in the Grand Line for five years by the time she met Luffy, with her Miss All Sunday days being only a small part of her journey.

Therefore, for One Piece live-action’s version of Water 7 to hit as hard as it did in the manga or the anime, Robin needs to be a well-written character from the start. One Piece season 1 made great use of flashbacks to reveal the origins of each of the Straw Hat pirates, all of which matched how Eiichiro Oda wrote the characters with some minor differences. However, One Piece season 2 must avoid revealing too much about Miss All Sunday. Part of what makes Robin’s story so great is how Luffy welcomes her despite knowing nothing about her past.

Robin Goes From Mysterious Villain To A Member Of The Crew
With the “OG crew” already established in One Piece, it is time for the later additions to make a name for themselves in live-action. Despite only ing the Straw Hats hundreds of chapters into the story, Nico Robin becomes an essential part of One Piece and is front and center in some of the most important events of the series. Robin’s Devil Fruit powers, which come from the Hana Ha no Mi, should also make for some great scenes. There can be an element of body horror to Robin’s powers in live-action that the anime could never achieve.

The fact that Nico Robin is introduced as a villain before becoming one of Luffy’s greatest friends and allies means it will be interesting to revisit her days as Miss All Sunday. Robin is not the only addition to Netflix’s One Piece that has the potential to steal the show in season 2. The first look at live-action Chopper was revealed during Geeked Weekend, teasing the arrival of yet another future member of the Straw Hat pirates. Oda wrote some fantastic characters in One Piece, and I can’t wait for to them make the jump to live-action.
