The highly-anticipated One Piece Odyssey has finally hit shelves and digital storefronts, exciting many fans of the long-running IP looking to sink some time into its latest video game. Although the game does tell a new narrative, One Piece Odyssey draws from anime and manga stories as well that fans already know and love. This provides an interesting hybrid between the new storyline being told on the island of Waford while revisiting Memories of arcs like Alabasta and Water 7, and players will be able to play as all the Straw Hats in dynamic turn-based battles in classic JRPG style. This is how long One Piece Odyssey takes to beat.
How Long One PIece Odyssey's Main Story Is
As players battle their way through One Piece Odyssey and dive back into the Memories of its characters, they will find a solid amount to do within the game. All total, the main storyline of One Piece Odyssey will run players about 35 hours if they largely focus on the core elements needed to proceed. However, if players seek out more side quests and collecting, this number will raise closer to and potentially exceed roughly 40 hours of gameplay.
One Piece Odyssey's Length May Surprise JRPG Fans
Considering the description from developers that One Piece Odyssey would be heavily JRPG-inspired, it may surprise some players they'll be able to finish the storyline within 35 hours. As fans of the JRPG genre know, it's not uncommon for games of this nature to stretch beyond 60 or even 100 hours for the main story, however it's not necessarily a bad thing this isn't the case with One Piece Odyssey. For some players, putting in dozens upon dozens of hours into a game simply isn't a desirable prospect, and can feel like too long of a commitment.
One Piece Odyssey's 35 to 40 hour length is still a very respectable amount of time that helps justify the game's price point, while still not taking up an exorbitant amount of players' time. This is especially true considering that One Piece Odyssey is the strongest gaming adaptation the IP has seen so far in its lifespan, making fans' time with the game feel wholly worthwhile. Of course, there's always a variance in playstyle to for that may shift the play time for some fans in one direction or the other, which they'll be able to discover for themselves now that One Piece Odyssey is available.
