The teen drama One Tree Hill might feature family feuds and romantic entanglements, but it definitely stands out from the crop of young adult series out there. This show wasn't afraid to delve into the supernatural or the straight-up nuts, and over nine seasons, fans were treated to some realistic scenes and some episodes that were harder to believe would actually happen.
From some of the wilder moments that didn't make much sense to the quieter connections that the main characters shared, there were plenty of moments on One Tree Hill that fans will never let go of.
Lucas Helped Peyton After Some Car Trouble
In the pilot of One Tree Hill, the Lucas/Peyton romance was foreshadowed when the two characters talked for the first (real) time. Lucas helped Peyton out after she had some car trouble and they realized that while they didn't know each other, they had a pretty deep connection.
Lucas got right to it and asked Peyton about her being on the cheerleading team, and said that she wasn't exactly "cheery." Lucas talked about how he and Nathan both had the same dad, and it was sweet watching them start to break down their walls.
Haley And Nathan Got Married While In High School
In the season one finale, Haley and Nathan talked to Lucas about some pretty huge news: they had gotten married. This wasn't exactly what a high schooler would expect his friend (and brother) to tell him, so Lucas was absolutely surprised.
Haley and Nathan had their ups and downs but even though getting married while still in high school seemed crazy, it seemed to work for them. Haley was always wise and mature beyond her years and since they stayed together, they clearly had something special.
A Dog Ate A Heart That Dan Needed For His Transplant
No one could ever forget the silly moment when Dan needed a heart transplant and a dog actually ate the heart. This was the culmination of this character dipping in and out of the main story, as he disappeared for a while and then fans would get glimpses of the odd turns his life had taken.
While no one liked the evil Dan Scott, this was still a weird scene and one that didn't seem necessary. It's hard to imagine another teen drama moment that would live in fans' heads like this one.
Quinn And Clay Were Ghosts
The relationship between Nathan's sports agent Clay and Haley's sister Quinn was very sweet, as they were serious about each other from the start.
But things got pretty silly when they were actually ghosts for a period of time. At the beginning of season eight, Katie had shot them, and the couple went to the beach as spirits. Katie was an incredibly creepy character, as Clay worked with her, and since she looked like his wife Sara who had ed away, she began to stalk and obsess over him. Fans could never forget this scene, as it's not every day that TV characters become ghosts for a short time.
Haley Went Into Labor At High School Graduation
The season four finale "All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone" featured the gang graduating from high school. It was a big moment that was made even more important when Haley went into labor at the ceremony.
Every fan re the moment when Haley and Nathan became parents to their sweet son Jamie, whose comic statements were always welcome later on in the show. While One Tree Hill often focused on the Brooke/Lucas/Peyton love triangle, it also had some heartwarming family moments like this one.
Nanny Carrie Kidnapped Jamie
Nanny Carrie was one of the meanest people on OTH and she really proved her evilness in this crazy scene.
In the fifth season episode "Hundred," Nanny Carrie kidnapped Jamie at a pretty crazy moment: when Lindsay and Lucas were getting married. She told Jamie that his parents knew about it, and since he loved her, he was super happy to hang out with her and leave the wedding. Later, Carrie would
Peyton, Lucas, And Their Baby Girl Left One Tree Hill
In season six, Peyton and Lucas left One Tree Hill behind, and they were thrilled to be raising their baby girl, Sawyer. Peyton also gave the baby Brooke's name as her middle name, which really touched her best friend.
The scene of this beloved couple driving away was heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. They had been through so much, from fighting over his feelings for Brooke to Lucas's love for his editor Lindsay, not to mention all the near-death experiences that Peyton had during her time in Tree Hill.
Brooke Was Attacked In Her Store
Brooke Davis loved fashion and this led to her clothing line, Clothes Over Bros, and her store in Tree Hill. It was a dream for her and something that she could control.
In the season six premiere, Brooke was attacked when she was locking up her clothing store, and it was a horrifying moment. She had already been so vulnerable for so many years and now she had to worry about her safety and whether someone wanted her dead. This scene lives rent free in every One Tree Hill fan's head as it was so disturbing.
Peyton Proposed To Jake
Everyone thought that Peyton and Lucas should end up together but it was hard not to root for Peyton and Jake as well.
Peyton really loved this single dad and she was attracted to his kind and gentle personality. When Peyton proposed to Jake and he said yes, it was a crazy moment for a few reasons. For one thing, she was still so young, so it seemed like marriage wasn't really the right thing for her. And for another, she did love Lucas, and Jake figured this out when Peyton said his name while sleeping.
The School Shooting Episode
In the third season, the episode "With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept" left a powerful impression on fans. Jimmy Edwards showed up at school with a gun as he had been bullied and he was tired of it.
It was a terrifying episode and Peyton spent much of it in the library, bleeding from her gunshot wound. Jimmy killed himself, and then Dan killed his brother Keith. This episode is unforgettable and very dark and disturbing.
