OnePlus recently unveiled its color-changing increased the price of its flagship models while competing with manufacturers like Apple and Samsung.

In January, OnePlus showcased the Concept One smartphone at CES 2020. The device is essentially a OnePlus 7T Pro, but features a luxury-themed design and color-shifting glass for its rear camera. The glass takes inspiration from the McLaren 720S sports car which uses similar technology for its glass roof to control the amount of light that's let in. OnePlus claims the color-shifting glass is a built-in polarizing filter and takes a mere 0.7 seconds to transition from solid black to clear glass.

An Early Look At Future OnePlus Phones?

OnePlus Concept One

OnePlus releases new smartphones every few months, but the technology present on the OnePlus 8T Concept may not be available on a OnePlus smartphone for quite some time, if ever. The OnePlus Concept One was announced almost one year ago, and although there are consumers seeking to purchase the smartphone, OnePlus has yet to release a device that resembles the design or uses the same features. As this is a concept device, the main purpose is to simply showcase the technology OnePlus is working on. Whether that means it will arrive in a future OnePlus smartphone likely depends on a number of factors, including consumer and market response.

Apart from the distinct back design, the OnePlus 8T Concept does not present any technology that is totally new to the market. The color-shifting back is already present in Razer Phones and touchless gestures have already been explored by other manufacturers, most notably Google, with innovative smartphone feature that does not relate to the front screen or cameras, although if OnePlus can bundle this recent technology with keys improvements for an overall better experience, then the company likely will.
