Warning: this article contains spoilers for Only Murders in The Building.Teddy Dimas is one of Only Murders in the Building, Teddy becomes a prime suspect in the murder of Tim Kono (Julian Cihi).

Of course, the main story revolves around the true-crime podcasters Oliver Putnam, Charles Hayden-Savage (Steve Martin), and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), but Teddy is central to a good proportion of the show's second season, too. After heading into 2022 with a career record of seven guest star nominations, Nathan Lane finally won his first Emmy for his role in Only Murders in the Building. This underscores how effective his performance in the show is. Given this, the fact that he hasn't been involved in recent seasons is somewhat surprising – and needs to be rectified.

Since Only Murders in the Building's first season, Teddy Dimas has rapidly become one of Only Murder's most likable characters and a huge part of its overarching plot. In its inaugural season, Teddy sponsored the trio's podcast to promote his own brand, Dimas Delis. At first, Teddy appears as a harmless resident of the Arconia, but as the murder investigation for Tim Kono continues, the trio unearth some dark truths about his character. Lane's outstanding performance misleads the audience, luring them into a false sense of security. It's later uncovered that Teddy runs an illegal operation involving grave robbing — Angel, Inc.

Theo is implicated in his father's business and happens to be responsible for the murder of Zoe, a fellow Arconian, years prior. Teddy came to his son's protection by threatening the only witness, Tim Kono. This underscores the crucial role Teddy had in framing Oscar (Aaron Dominguez) and his ability in Oscar's unjust imprisonment. Additionally, the resident of 6B played a pivotal role in Oliver Putnam's fate in season 2, where it's unexpectedly revealed that Teddy is the biological father of Oliver's son, Will Putnam (Ryan Broussard) after having an affair with his neighbor's ex-wife.

Season 2, episode 4, "Here's Looking At You," shows that the felon is under house arrest while he awaits trial.

Although Teddy was absent from both Only Murders in the Building's third and fourth seasons, his son has appeared more recently. Season 3 indicates that Theo and Mabel have remained friends, as he helps the young podcaster move her belongings out of the Arconia. However, Theo was absent from the fourth season, too. With that in mind, the criminal's outcome is unknown, as Only Murders in the Building has neglected to acknowledge the trial since the end of the second season. Although it's reasonable to presume Teddy may be incarcerated after shouldering the blame for Theo murdering Zoe.

The New Murder Sets Up Teddy Dimas' Return Perfectly

Interestingly, Oliver briefly mentions that Dimas Delis is still sponsoring the Only Murders podcast during one of the final episodes of season 4, so viewers can remain hopeful about Teddy's presence in season 5. Although a throwaway line, this is evidence enough that his character has not been entirely written out of Only Murders in the Building, and the show is leaving the door open for his return. Considering Jan's (Amy Ryan) relatively minor role in the fourth season, notwithstanding her significant role in the first season, the felon's reappearance would not be entirely implausible.

It is likely that Teddy Dimas will have important intel for the investigation of Lester's untimely death.

More importantly, however, is how the new murder acts as a perfect catalyst for Teddy Dimas' return to season 5 of Only Murders in the Building. The doorman of the Arconia, Lester (Teddy Coluca) has been heavily associated with the building for many years. Previous episodes have seen him providing information to the trio on certain suspects, such as his private encounter with Sting in season 1, episode 4, "The Sting." It is likely that Teddy Dimas will have important intel for the investigation into Lester's untimely death. Nathan Lane has not been confirmed for the next season yet, but all signs point towards his return to Only Murders in the Building.
