Developer Obsidian Entertainment released the opening cinematic for Murder on Eridanos aims to deliver an experience quite unlike anything else the sci-fi RPG has on offer.
The Outer Worlds' first post-launch DLC, Peril on Gorgon, launched last September, taking players and their Unreliable crew on an adventure across the Gorgon Asteroid. Though the asteroid previously played host to Halcyon’s disastrous science experiments, a wide variety of outlaws now inhabit the territory. Upon landing on the Gorgon Asteroid, players are greeted with a mystery involving the disgraced Dr. Olivia Ambrose, supervisor to the aforementioned science experiments at Halcyon. Soon, Obsidian Entertainment will present the crew aboard the Unreliable with yet another Outer Worlds mystery to solve.
Publisher Private Division released the opening cinematic for The Outer Worlds' Murder on Eridanos content, which is now confirmed to arrive next week on March 17. Based on what can be gleaned from the new footage, Halcyon Helen, the spokesperson for Spectrum Vodka, becomes the murdered party in question. Interestingly, the in-game broadcast report indicates the most pressing matter may revolve around who will next serve as Spectrum Vodka's spokesperson. It's no wonder, then, that players and their companions will play a pivotal role in uncovering the truth.
Evidently, The Outer Worlds will go out with a bang, given that Murder on Eridanos marks the RPG's final story expansion. What Obsidian may have planned next for the compelling sci-fi universe remains to be seen, yet reports from last fall suggest the studio has already entered pre-production on The Outer Worlds 2.
In many respects, Obsidian's release of The Outer Worlds in late 2019 came as a breath of fresh air. The original stewards of the Xbox umbrella, such hopes could, theoretically speaking, become a reality.
The Outer Worlds: Murder on Eridanos will become available on March 17 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
