Outlander season 8 is set to be the final season of the show, which has been running since 2014.

On the official Outlander Starz Instagram , a new post confirms that season 8 has officially wrapped production just under two months ahead of the premiere of season 7 part 2. The caption of the post, which features an image gallery of the cast posing with the slate, reads "Nothing is lost, Sassenach, only changed," expressing gratitude for the show's cast, crew, and fans, saying that "there’s so much more to this journey that’s just beginning." See the post below:

On the slates being held by the cast in the image gallery, many cast wrote in what they would like to take from the set under the "Take" section. Below, see a breakdown of what each cast member said they wanted to bring back home with them after wrapping production:

What The Season 8 Wrap Means For Outlander

There Could Still Be A Long Wait After Season 7

Now that the concluding episodes of the show have wrapped, the final outing with the Outlander cast is drawing much closer. However, while it seems likely that the 10-episode season will air all at once, as have the shorter seasons of the show in the past, there could still be a long wait for the epic show's conclusion once season 7 officially draws to a close in January 2025. Below, see a breakdown of the hiatus between every season of the Starz show so far:

It seems likely that this hiatus will be among the shorter delays between seasons, due to precedent. Even though the delay between Outlander season 6 and season 7 was more than 13 months, the newer season had wrapped production just four months before it premiered. This could mean that season 8 will be ready to air by the time season 7 concludes, leaving it ready to come to the air after a more typical television hiatus, perhaps meaning that it will premiere sometime in Summer or Fall 2025.

Our Take On Outlander Season 8 Wrapping Production

The Show's Finale May Not Mean The End

While Outlander season 8 wrapping production marks the end of an era, the franchise will make a bid for continuation with an prequel series subtitled Blood of My Blood, which is set to follow the love stories of Claire and Jamie's parents. It remains to be seen if the show becomes a hit at the level of the flagship series, but if it does, the universe could continue in many other forms, potentially prompting the creation of further spinoffs that could include familiar faces from the original series.

Outlander season 7 part 2 premieres on Starz on November 22, 2024.
