Ahead of its April 1 release date, Square Enix and developer People Can Fly launched a demo for looter-shooter Steam's best-selling games only days after the demo's release. One of the shooter's biggest allures is hunting for its unique legendary weapons that each have their own defining attributes.
Similar games like the Destiny and Borderlands franchises have previously left their mark on the looter-shooter genre, but Outriders seems to be proving there's still room to innovate. Like The Division, Outriders plays out in a third-person perspective, so players' characters are front and center as they amass powerful armor and legendary guns. The Outriders art style falls somewhere between its competitors, featuring photorealistic graphics like Destiny and set in a post-apocalyptic world like Borderlands. All of these choices translate to an arsenal of eye-popping legendary weapons that have quickly become Outriders' most coveted items.
These rare drops have a chance to appear throughout the Outriders demo's 12-hour campaign. Players hunting for them will need to repeat the available story missions a few times before they manage to find one. This can be done by navigating to the Outriders main menu and selecting "Return to Lobby" so players can toggle the "World Tier" option to "Tier 5" to give them a better chance at stumbling upon legendary weapons. Player progression in the demo can be transferred to the full game when it launches, so players have plenty of time to pad their arsenal before April 1. Outriders Legendary Weapons: The Iceberg
- Winter Blast: Critical shots create an icy blast that inflicts Freeze on enemies within a 4-meter radius.
- Icebreaker: Killing shots against frozen enemies make them explode, dealing 90 damage.
Outriders Legendary Weapons: Thunderbird
- Ultimate Storm Whip: Shots bring down lighting on an enemy.
- Vampire: Killing shots grant a temporary boost to ability leech.
Outriders Legendary Weapons: Voodoo Matchmaker
- Ultimate Damage Link: Shots link up to 3 enemies, sharing 30% of their Weapon Damage dealt and 10% of their Anomaly Damage dealt.
- Vulnerability Bullets: Shot inflict Vulnerable on enemies. Cooldown of 8 seconds.
Outriders Legendary Weapons: The Migraine
- Ultimate Bleeding Bullets: Shots inflict Bleed on enemies.
- Bomb's Ahead: Killing shots turn enemies into an Anomaly bomb, dealing 101 damage. Cooldown of 3 seconds.
Outriders Legendary Weapons: Torment & Agony
- Judgment Enforcer: Shots mark enemies. When reloading, deal 5 times your weapon's damage to every marked enemy. Marks are removed when you change your weapon.
- Clip Combustion: Reloading weapon creates a shockwave, dealing 25 damage to enemies within a 5-meter radius.
Outriders Legendary Weapons: Golem's Limb
- Golem Rising: Killing shots grant you a protective Golem effect for 3 seconds.
- Vampire: Killing shots grant 15% Skill Leech boost for 20 seconds.
Outriders Legendary Weapons: Amber Vault
- Killing Spree: Killing shots increase damage by 30% for this weapon for 30 seconds. Bonus deteriorates with time and stacks up to 5 kills.
- Brain-Eater: Critical shots do not consume ammo.
Outriders Legendary Weapons: Grim Marrow
- Singularity: Killing shots create an Anomaly singularity. When destroyed, the singularity explodes, dealing 458 damage to enemies with a 6.5-meter radius.
- Improved Stiffening: Shots inflict Slow on enemies. Cooldown of 4 seconds.
Outriders Legendary Weapons: Aerie Master
- Weightlessness: Shots inflict Time Rift on enemies. Time Rifts raises the enemy into the air for 5 seconds.
- Critical Point: Increases the chance of scoring a critical shot by 15%.
Outriders Legendary Weapons: Paxian Blessing
- Life Stock: Reloading restores a portion of health for each enemy killed since your last reload.
- Vampire: Killing shots grant a temporary boost to ability leech.
Outriders Legendary Weapons: Raróg's Gaze
- Weakness Trap: Shots cause explosions, dealing 46 damage and inflicting Weakness on enemies within a 5-meter radius of the target. Cooldown of 3 seconds.
- Burning Bullets: Shots inflict Burn on enemies. Cooldown of 8 seconds.
Outriders Legendary Weapons: Absolute Zero
- Ultimate Freezing Bullets: Shots inflict Freeze on enemies.
- Improved Vulnerability Bullets: Shots inflict Vulnerable on enemies. Cooldown of 4 seconds.
Outriders Legendary Weapons: Molten Idola
- Ravenous Locust: Shots create a swarm of locusts, dealing 475,685 damage over 15 seconds and inflicting Weakness to enemies remaining within a 6-meter radius of the target. Cooldown of 2 seconds.
- Brain-Eater: Critical shots do not consume ammo.
Only a portion of Outriders' full story is currently available, so there will likely be more legendary weapons after it launches on April 1. For now, anyone who wants to go into the full release with a legendary gun will need to grind towards finding any of these 13 unique items.
