Looter-shooter Outriders has had an unfortunately bumpy release month, plagued with everything from connection issues to character deletion. One particularly nasty glitch wiped some players' inventories, and developer People Can Fly has promised the team is hard at work at a fix that will restore those inventories.

While reviews of the actual gameplay of Outriders have been generally positive, the game can't seem to escape technical issues. During launch weekend, Outriders suffered server overload that prevented the game from being accessed at all. This was particularly frustrating since the game can be played in solo mode, yet still requires a constant internet connection. Cross-play, a key feature of the game, has suffered, with some platforms unable to connect to each other, and PC players of Outriders found their hard drives flooded with junk files after crashes. Developer People Can Fly has been hard at work correcting these issues, starting with finally squashing the bug that was wiping inventories.

Outriders Players Are Exploiting a Co-Op Feature

While Outriders may soon finally undo the harm that was caused by inventory wipes, Square Enix also needs to to address some issues that cropped up in the community. Outriders is heavily built on co-op gameplay, including that ability to group with randomly assigned players. Reports have surfaced, however, that players are exploiting a feature that allows the host of a party to kick team from the group. After completing an Expedition, the hardest kind of mission, Outriders griefers are kicking players before loot distribution so that their team  get nothing.

Despite the many issues plaguing , the game has done well in sales. It was reported to have the third highest game sales in the month of March, despite also being a day one release on Xbox Game . If People Can Fly and Square Enix can resolve these many issues soon, they might have a loyal fanbase on their hands. But if the game continues to be a buggy mess, players will quickly leave for another shooter, despite Outriders' fun and snappy gameplay.
