Taking inspiration from Doom, Gears Of War, and The Division, Outriders is a gory and excitingly new game to play, but it doesn't come without its problems. Luckily, due to its new game status, constant updates and bug fixes, but despite all that there are still some aspects that fans and gamers are desperate to see added. These issues span from game-breaking to just outright frustrating and unfair and while some issues are seemingly embedded into the mechanics of the game.
Nevertheless, there are quite a few things players are wanting to be added to make this game the best it can be. From bug fixes, connection issues, to seemingly unachievable loot, some players have even opted to cheat just so they can get an evenly matched game! It does make Outriders pretty frustrating to play as a whole. But hopefully, with the update, fans may see some changes that will make their gameplay 10x better.
More Class Abilities
One of the best things about Outriders is its skills and class abilities. The skill tree is a nice way to improve the character as the player levels up and the skills make fighting bad guys a tactical pursuit rather than just shoot until they die (although that is the case for some enemies).
However, as the player levels up and gets more powerful, many often find themselves sticking to the same class abilities they are given at low levels. This is predominantly due to the abilities being pretty cool and useful, but it leaves a few players searching for more options. Ultimately, it would be awesome if new abilities could be introduced to spice up combat.
Even Loot Drops
Despite Outriders assuring players that the loot drops are equal amount players and are more powerful as a player levels, many fans have found themselves almost getting to the end of the game without getting their hands on a legendary item. It's gotten so bad that some have opted to cheat just to make the game give them what they deserve.
The developers should really look into making it a little more common to get a legendary item and making it equal for co-op matches. To make it as even as possible, if one player gets a legendary item then their teammate should too. That way no player is more overpowered than the others.
Customizable Guns/ Armor
While just like they can with the truck and flag.
Adding a laser onto a pistol or an upgraded mag onto a sniper would be game-changing for some players, then layering over a cool skin would just complete any look the player is going for. It could work the same way the special abilities do and would drastically improve those players who love more tactical and skill-based combat.
More Side Quests
The replayable side quests are pretty cool and a good way to get new armor but many players can't help but feel they lack in excitement and uniqueness. If there were more then the quests wouldn't be repeated and the player could explore more of the map and interact with new NPC's.
It would also be interesting if the next update included an easier menu to access these quests so players don't have to go on a wild goose chase just to find the quest then head back in the same direction to go complete it.
Problem-Solving Quests
Along with new quests, it would be extremely interesting if the developers added in some puzzles or problem solving rather than simply shooting the way to answers.
Many players seem to have problems with the nature of the side quests and often call them boring, so something to make the players think might just be the way forward. Ultimately, having more problem-solving quests will broaden the horizons of the game as well as flesh out the main character who is only really seen as a mindless gun-for-hire who is happy to accept a quest just because they can.
Less Loading/ Cut Scenes
Cut scenes usually help with the immersion of the game. Many games use them to progress the story and allow their players to take a break and just watch the story unfold. This is the case with Outriders for the beginning of the game, it's immersive, entertaining, and sets out the story perfectly.
However, it seems like the developers are trying to hide some of the loading screens with cutscenes instead. Every time the players open a door or climb through a window or down a rope they enter a cutscene than a loading screen. It gets extremely tiring, even on the new consoles where the loading time is dramatically reduced. Ultimately, it ruins the immersion and should be replaced with just a loading screen or taken away entirely.
More Reliable Servers
Some players get frustrated with the lack of good loot, others get bored of the side quests, but everyone seems to be getting frustrated with the unreliable servers that love kicking players out mid shootout, or just not letting them play with friends or even a simple online match.
This needs to be fixed as soon as possible because it just makes the game look unstable, and that's not even talking about the frustration of just being thrown out of the game mid-boss battle. It's a small bug that will undoubtedly be sorted in the next update, but there need to be more reliable servers added.
More Endgame Guns
On top of the struggle for legendary loot, many players who have played till the end found there was only a small handful of guns that would actually take them to the endgame successfully. Not only were they hard to get but they were also the key to beating the game.
The game should introduce more guns and armor that can carry the player all the way to the end. That way it becomes more skill-based than simply having the right gun for the job.
Easier Crossplay
The game has some pretty cool mechanics and systems when it comes to combat and completing quests, but it just feels like sorting out crossplay and getting to that stage in the game is overcomplicated and timely.
Completing the prologue of the game is a wonderful idea but locating where to begin co-op and the fact that crossplay isn't automatically selected can prove to be frustrating for some people. The developers could make this a little easier to reach and a little more stable.
Chosen Dialogue
One of the sadder parts of Outriders is its character development. Many players feel like they're playing a gun-for-hire who doesn't really care about the danger they put themselves in and just doesn't really understand what they've gotten themselves into.
This could be easily rectified with a little more choice in the words the Outrider says during side quests. It would give the player a little more control over the character's actions and hopefully make it feel a lot more immersive while still allowing for a unique experience every time the gamer plays.
