The new Overwatch 2 hero has been unveiled to be a tank with multiple forms, the Omnic resistance leader Ramattra. With the free-to-play game's first season ending in a few weeks, Team 4 at Blizzard has teased a new tank hero arriving for the game's second season that begins December 6th. At the exciting conclusion of the Overwatch League's Grand Finals tournament, developers treated fans to the newest playable hero's reveal, and Ramattra seems like a game changer.
The hulking new hero Ramattra will be a helpful tank that teammates will be able to rely upon for protection and an enemy that opponents will want to stay clear from. While the developers have yet to reveal Overwatch 2's next playable character's health and specific abilities, they did share a few clues with Screen Rant and other press before Friday night's reveal. When asked if Ramattra will be an offensive tank like Wrecking Ball or more of a ive tank like Reinhardt, they itted he will fit somewhere in the middle of that spectrum.
Ramattra Will Be Playable In Overwatch 2 Starting December 6
Like the newly repaired damage hero Bastion, Ramattra will have two different forms he can alternate between using an ability. Omnic mode will be able to deliver attacks with poke damage and provide valuable protection for teammates. Ramattra's Nemesis mode promises to be one of the largest characters in the game and will focus on rushes and landing punches. Each form will include its own unique abilities and attacks, meaning the new hero will likely have more abilities compared to other Overwatch heroes.
Longtime Overwatch fans may recognize the Omnic resistance leader in the Storm Rising ending cinematic that launched with the PvE event of the same name back in 2019. Upon completing the event, players witnessed a short conversation between Doomfist and Ramattra, both leaders of imposing factions that promise to play a prominent role in Overwatch 2's PvE story mode that fans look forward to releasing sometime next year.
Like Kiriko in the first season, Ramattra will be instantly available to players who purchase the new Season 2 battle or unlockable at tier 55 of Overwatch 2's free battle . The character promises a lot of flexibility in the tank role, and should help flesh out a roster that has felt somewhat lacking at launch.
