Twitter and Overwatch player Metro_OW took to social media to explain the damaging exploit they encountered while playing the game. According to Metro_OW, the exploit saw a player spam the voice lines of his team, leading to system malfunctions and a poor performance by their entire team. Fellow streamer Stevo had a similar issue when a player spammed "understood" through voice channels, according to a report by Dexerto. The hacking concept is called "drop hacking" which is used by disgraceful players who attempt to make their teammates lose connection, which in some cases erases the game from match history.
Online exploits and hacks are unfortunately prevalent in the gaming community; developers are often slow to respond unless a popular streamer reports an issue. However, the seriousness of this issue may quickly grab developers' attention due to potential hardware damage to customers' PCs. Numerous forums exist touting ways to exploit the game, leading to developers Blizzard Entertainment and Iron Galaxy scrambling to make the game fair for every player.
With Overwatch remaining a viable attraction in the gaming community, its loss of momentum over the past several years has likely captured the attention of Blizzard.
