The trailer for Pachinko season 2 continues the story of Sunja and her family, previewing the long-awaited return of the decades-spanning story. Created by Soo Hugh, and based on the 2017 novel by Min Jin Lee, Pachinko premiered in March 2022 on Apple TV+. It gained widespread critical acclaim, being lauded as one of the year's best shows, which paved the way for a speedy Pachinko season 2 renewal.

Apple TV+ has now unveiled the trailer for Pachinko season 2.

The acclaimed adaptation will return on Friday, August 23, 2024, with one episode, followed by one new episode every Friday until the finale on October 11. This means that, like the first installment, season 2 will consist of eight episodes overall.

The trailer is set to a cover of Coldplay's "Viva la Vida," which is sung by Blackpink's Rosé. It begins with Teenage Sunja (Minha Kim) saying that her grandfather always wanted her to see the world. From there, the trailer moves to Osaka in 1945 and reveals Teenage Sunja reuniting with Koh Hansu (Lee Min-ho). She says it's been 14 years, though he answers that he could never forget her.

The trailer also reveals that the installment will deal with Japan being bombed, as one character notes that “the Americans want it to see it all burn.” It's also confirmed that the adaptation will resume the decades-spanning story, with Sunja being portrayed through different decades.

Several Season 1 Cast Are Coming Back

The adaptation of the New York Times best-selling novel of the same name will continue its sweeping scope, told through the eyes of Sunja as several stories will unfold. One is in Osaka, in 1945, where Sunja is forced to make dangerous decisions for her family’s survival during World War II. Another story unfolds in Tokyo in 1989, as Solomon (Jin Ha) explores new, humble beginnings. Along with Jin Ha, Minho Kim, and Lee Min-ho, the Pachinko season 2 cast will include several returning faces.
