The new trailer shows a clearer picture of Drake's rise and fall, and how Evans' Pete Brenner fits into her arc. From the looks of it, Pain Hustlers is setting up a devastating ending for everyone involved in the conspiracy, which is expected, considering the movie's subject. Still, it doesn't take away from the appeal of seeing its stellar cast in it.
What To Expect From Pain Hustlers
Directed by David Yates, Pain Hustlers marks Blunt's movie return after the success of Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. The new Netflix film is significantly different from her more recent projects, allowing her to venture out and fully exercise her acting muscles. Ever the chameleon, however, nothing less of a stellar performance is expected from the actor. Evans, on the other hand, appears to be continuing the trend of taking on roles that are very different from MCU's Captain America. He is conniving in Pain Hustlers, and it's interesting how he plays this up against Blunt.
Despite its serious topic, Yates takes on a more humorous approach with the new project, which is almost reminiscent of Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street. How it fares with the critical and commercial Leonardo DiCaprio classic is uncertain at this point, although initial reviews for Pain Hustlers are less than ideal. Considering Netflix's decision to give it a theatrical run, despite how brief it is, instead of directly putting it on the platform indicates that they have confidence in it.
