After Nyles convinces Roy to walk into the cave — entering the time loop with him — Roy spends much of his time either reliving the same day with his wife and children at home or getting revenge on Nyles by finding different ways to murder him. Roy continually exacts pain onto Nyles more as revenge for keeping him from his real family than just getting him stuck in the loop. Sarah and Nyles eventually find a way out of the time loop, but it’s never revealed what exactly happened to Roy.

Palm Springs' mid-credits scene shows Roy asking Nyles about Sarah’s plan, and when Nyles doesn’t recognize him he realizes it worked. Since Roy knows that there is a way out of the time loop — and demonstrated a clear desire to break out of the loop — he likely used Sarah’s plan to escape himself. When Roy made the off-hand comment to Nyles about not wanting the day to end, he meant it to express how much he enjoyed getting a break from his responsibilities in everyday life. Like with Nyles and Sarah, the appeal of reliving the same day — even a "perfect" one — eventually wears off.

Nyles was high and lonely when he led Roy into the cave in Palm Springs, but it was still extremely selfish on his part since Roy actually had much to look forward to: namely being able to watch his children grow up and experience growing old with his wife. Nyles and Sarah are single with no children or responsibilities to others, so being stuck in the time loop isn’t as devastating for them as it is to Roy. Palm Springs' time loop was important in teaching Sarah and Nyles to recognize their own faults and come to with their reckless actions, but it also helped Roy learn to be grateful for the small joys in life involving his family. Because of this, Roy would likely do whatever he could to get back to his family.
