Summary

  • Palworld's black market offers morally questionable options, including trade with Black Marketeers who deal in underhanded goods.
  • Black Marketeers can be found away from settlements and sell Pals at affordable prices, providing an alternative way to acquire them.
  • Dumping unwanted Pals on Black Marketeers is a way to earn quick cash and avoid using brutal methods, offering a small act of mercy.

One aspect of Palworld that's quickly garnered attention is the game's willingness to include some morally bankrupt options, and the black market is an interesting piece of the more criminal choices available. The basic function of the black market is fairly obvious from its name, which refers to the kind of underhanded trade that would generally be expected, and the same applies to the goods purveyors known as Black Marketeers. However, understanding how to access and make the best use of the black market in Palworld might not be quite as obvious, so it's good to learn the details.

Black Marketeers aren't too hard to spot in Palworld, with obviously imposing figures that certainly don't fade into the background of the game. They can be quickly identified through their dark hooded cloaks and wide-open smiles, which unfortunately send a message that's more intimidating than welcome. These NPCs are typically found away from settlements, and twelve total Black Marketeers can be located in various spots around the Palpagos Islands. Capturing a Black Marketeer and releasing them in a base is also a useful hidden Palworld feature to keep one close on hand if none of their spots seem convenient.

What Black Marketeers Do In Palworld

Palworld Black Marketeer vendor ready to purchase stolen goods or illegal Pals

Black Marketeers don't sell a wide variety of goods, exclusively dealing in Pals that were presumably acquired through methods that weren't especially aboveboard. Unlike official Pal Dealers, they sell whatever they have on hand for comparatively affordable prices, just in smaller numbers. Their inventory can rotate, so checking back in with Black Marketeers frequently after first meeting them can be a good way to acquire Pals for cheap, and it still counts for any requirements of capturing Pals in the early game despite the lack of active effort on the player's part.

Black Marketeers Will Buy Pals In Palworld

The black market exchange goes both ways in Palworld, and dumping Pals on Black Marketeers is an easy way to earn some quick cash. Specifically, Black Marketeers are the only productive way to get rid of pals purchased off the black market or stolen from other players, as upstanding merchants will turn up their noses at these offerings. Although it might not seem like a particularly kind fate for unwanted Pals, it's arguably better than deploying the brutal Palworld Meat Cleaver on them, so it can be seen as a small act of mercy.

Pals in Palworld will each have their strengths and weaknesses based on their type, which players will need to take advantage of to form their team.

It's perfectly possible to thrive in Palworld without employing the use of the black market, so anyone who finds that it gives them the creeps can comfortably ignore it. Still, dealing with a Black Marketeer can definitely be beneficial, especially when they happen to have some Pals on hand that might otherwise be hard to acquire. Black Marketeers certainly aren't the pillars of society, but some shady dealings can be a quick trick to get ahead when progressing through the Palworld experience.
