Palworld developer Pockerpair is branching out from its first hit title to provide publishing services for other developers, and it's starting with a horror title from Surgent Studios. Palworld has been a runaway success, amassing millions of s and a vocal and ionate community of ers. Now, Pocketpair turns its attention to helping other developers find success with their own games as a publisher.

According to Games Industry, Pocketpair is officially launching the PocketPair Publishing arm of its company, with Surgent Studios acting as their first partnering developers. Surgent is the studio behind Tales of Kenzera: Zau, a metroidvania that was published under the EA Originals label. Together with Pockerpair as their publisher, Surgent is working on a brand-new, standalone horror title that's not set in the Kenzera universe.

Pocketpair Has Partnered With Surgent Studios To Publish A New Horror Game

The Title Will Be "Short And Weird"

Despite receiving overall positive reviews, Tales of Kenzera: Zau failed to take off and Surgent was forced to put a pause on making games. With Pocketpair taking the studio under its wing, the studio has a chance to try again. This time, Surgent has Pocketpair's entire massive community watching: Palworld netted a reported 19 million s within just two weeks of launch, according to the Pocketpair X .

Despite the large potential audience, creating a completely new IP in a new genre is a gamble. The CEO of Surgent Studios, Abubakar Salim, doesn't shy away deom making bold moves. "Both Surgent and Pocketpair are well-versed in taking risks," says Salim. "We noticed a pattern in the entertainment industry, and Pocketpair has given us the opportunity to make a horror game about it." Salim goes on to say that the game will be "short and weird" and that players will be "interested in what we have to say."

Pocketpair Publishing Sets A Goal To Enable Devs To Create Fun, New Experiences

The Studio Is Not Afraid To Stir Things Up In The Industry

Pocketpair seems more than happy to cause trouble in the games industry. Its hit title Palworld has been met with resistance and even regularly release new content for the fan-favorite title. The studio is taking another gamble with Surgent, choosing to rescue it from obscurity through its new publishing program.

Surgent Studios' Salim also shared the news on his X , expressing the team's appreciation for Pocketpair for helping to save the studio. In an X post, he wrote:

"This is the energy I want to see driving games in 2025—developers lifting each other up, creating together, and pushing the industry forward."

That, after all, is the stated goal of Pocketpair's publishing endeavor: "The ultimate goal of Pocketpair Publishing," says John Buckley, Head of Pocketpair Publishing, "is to find creators with a genuine ion for games and enable them to create fun, new experiences all over the world." After its huge success with Palworld, it's clear that the company has the knowledge and experience to help Surgent Studios and other developers.
