keeping the dedicated player base invested, but it's about to open the doors to an entirely new audience.

Per Gematsu on X (formerly Twitter), an official list of games that will be in attendance at Tokyo Game Show 2024 has Palworld listed as coming to PlayStation 5.

It's worth noting that with the event still a few weeks away the list could be altered, but aside from official confirmation from PocketPair, this is about as official as one can expect from an online leak. Regardless, PlayStation 5 players eager to build their collection of Pals should at least take it with a grain of salt and wait for some kind of announcement from the studio before getting too excited.

Palworld Needs To Be On PS5

Variety Is The Key To Success

While launching on Xbox Game was a fantastic way to get players into Palworld early, the strategy may not have paid off in the long term. Thanks to an excellent word-of-mouth marketing campaign and several bizarre trailers, many s were happy to take a gamble on the game thanks to it being included in Microsoft's subscription service. Unfortunately, while Game is great for generating early buzz and excitement, player retention through the platform is limited.

Bringing Palworld to PlayStation 5 could be the shot in the arm the game needs. While it may not elevate the player numbers back to what they once were in February 2024, introducing a new community to the survival experience will bring some life back to the experience. Of course, it remains to be seen whether this strategy works out in the long term but PocketPair has managed to curate and a decent community without the PS5.

Palworld may never reach the immense popularity that it once did but the game is by no means a failure. While many may be quick to point out that dropping from two million concurrent Steam players to 25,000 over a few months is bad, it's a fairly standard process; very few games every maintain the player numbers they gain at launch. One can only hope that the PS5 community is still itching to capture some adorable Pals and equip them with deadly automatic weaponry.
