Summary
- Palworld is set to receive a major update introducing new creatures, factions, Raid bosses, and an Arena mode.
- The Sakurajima update will add new Pals to catch and fight, including a mysterious human and a dark-toned Raid boss.
- Some new Pals bear resemblance to Pokémon, sparking comparisons and speculation among players.
Palworld is on the verge of a massive update that will greatly expand the game’s world and what people can do within it. To that end, the dev team has posted a special photo that highlights many of the new creatures that will arrive via the Sakurajima content update.
As posted on the official Palworld X (formerly Twitter) , a series of Pals are featured. There are 13 within the picture, but the post also teases that these are just “some of the new Pals” that will debut in the Sakurajima update. Undoubtedly, the team wants to keep some under wraps for now.
It should be noted that, while not named, some of these Pals were shown off during Summer Game Fest. One of them was the frog monster, and then there was the peacock-esque bird, the mushroom dinosaur, and the red-capped creature on the left side.
Breaking Down New Pals In The Sakurajima Update
More Pals To Draw Comparisons To Pokémon
Not to be ignored, another key detail in this picture is the mysterious human in the center of all these Pals. She was also featured in the Summer Game Fest reveal and appears to be part of a new faction that people will face once the update arrives. The dark-toned Pal that is the furthest back in the picture is set to be the boss in a new Raid, which may be tied to a new location via the Oil Rig Stronghold. The update will also add an Arena mode, which is seemingly for PVP combat.

10 Palworld Breeding Combos That Make Absolutely No Sense
Breeding in Palworld can be a great way to get unique and powerful Pals, but many of the breeding combinations make very little, if any, sense.
While these Pals appear interesting, a common thread since the game’s launch is comparing them to Pokémon and seeing which ones look like entities from that franchise. For example, one of the new Pals is a plant-type creature, and one look at it immediately draws comparisons to Lilligant, which is strikingly similar in form and detail. Furthermore, the new Raid boss is similar to the Legendary Pokémon Solgaleo, and the rabbit-like creature on the far right resembles Raboot. Whether the other new Pals, be they caught or bred by people, also have similarities remains to be seen.
In short, Palworld has a lot of mystery and anticipation building up for its new content. The Sakurajima update is more like an expansion than a simple update, as it’s adding a new island to explore, Pals to catch/fight, a faction to clash with, new modes, etc. Some worry is building up about microtransactions being introduced, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet. All will be revealed, though, when the update drops on June 27.
