PalWorld looks to be an ambitious Pokémon-inspired that dares to explore uncharted territory - giving Poémon guns. Pocketpair's open world survival title features cute creatures named Pals, who are similar in design and concept to Pokémon. However, PalWorld's latest gameplay trailer has clearly shown Pocketpair is willing to explore a fresher and more chaotic relationship between humans and their pet monsters.
PalWorld inherently differs from the mainline Pokémon series due to the game's genre. PalWorld is a multiplayer, open world game with survival and crafting elements. Of course, Pokémon has had some of these elements in past titles, and more recently Pokémon Legends: Arceus was semi-open world and Pokémon: Scarlet and Violet will have both co-op and and even larger environment to explore. PalWorld, conversely, appears to be its own beast entirely with a new spin on Pokémon-styled games.
However, what truly sets PalWorld apart from Pokémon - and what makes it so daring - is that Pals will use and fight against guns. Both the player and Pals use weapons to fight with and against each other in PalWorld. This major change to the Pokémon formula creates an entirely new dynamic between people and their pet monster in PalWorld that is at once hilarious and chaotic. How People And Pals Use Guns In PalWorld
The ways in which people and Pals employ weaponry in PalWorld is surprisingly various. As shown in the gameplay trailer, people use a wide variety of guns (shotguns, rocket launchers, etc.) to fight against wild and/or aggressive Pals. Fighting with wild Pals appears to have a similar function as weakening wild Pokémon before catching them in the Pokémon series, as PalWorld has a similar catching mechanic to Pokémon. However, in some cases, it appears Pals will always be aggressive and players must use their weapons to defend themselves. Other human NPCs in the game are also aggressive, as a clip in PalWorld's gameplay trailer shows the player being held at gun point by what appears to be an evil team.
On the other hand, Pals have a strange relationship with guns in PalWorld. While some Pals may find themselves on the wrong side of the barrel, adorable sheep Pals will not hesitate to use LMGs to fight off a hoard of wolf-like Pals with the player. Additionally, a derpy looking Pal who bears a resemblance to Apex Legends' Nessie is strapped with a rocket launching system on its body. Most interesting of all is that some Pals can even be used as ammunition for bazookas: the gameplay trailer for Palworld shows that tiny blue Pals are more than happy to be shot out of a rocket launcher and explode whatever target they hit. While this may sound shocking for a Pokémon-inspired title, PalWorld's creative usage of weaponry in tandem with its Pals will surely make it a must-play game.
