The Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC will include many intriguing features, but a certain Pokémon variant has been absent from all promotional material so far. The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero will be released in two parts later this year, with each part introducing new locations and Pokémon. Information is slowly emerging both officially and through leaks but there has been a strange omission in all news to date.
The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is known to expand Scarlet and Violet’s Pokédex with a large number of Pokémon from previous generations, as well as introducing several new Legendary Pokémon. Much of the content will take place in the new locations of Kitakami and Blueberry Academy, although the DLC’s title also suggests a return to the Great Crater of Paldea. The story of the new Pokémon DLC seems to draw on Japanese folklore, although little else is known at this point beyond accompanying previews of some of the new characters and Pokémon.
Paradox Pokémon Appear To Be Missing In Scarlet & Violet DLC
There have been no indications of so far of new Paradox Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s DLC. As an iconic part of the base games, this is a strange omission, especially given that new Galarian Forms were previously revealed as part of the initial announcement for the Expansion DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield. Considering that no leaks have suggested new Paradox forms either, it is beginning to seem as if one of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s central features has been forgotten. Of course, this has also happened to many previous regional gimmicks like Mega Evolution, but it still seems too soon for the franchise to move on.
Lack of Paradox Pokémon News Could Have Many Reasons
The apparent absence of Paradox Pokémon in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero could be due to the conclusion of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, in which the Professor’s Time Machine is destroyed. Without this machine, no new Paradox Pokémon are able to reach the present. Although, with that being said, this supposed origin for Paradox Pokémon may not be what it seems. The Legendary Pokémon Terapagos is itself theorized to be in some way responsible for both Paradox Pokémon and Terastallization. If this is true, then Terapagos could potentially create further Paradox Pokémon, although whether it would have the motivation to do so is another question entirely.
Of course, it is also entirely possible that there are new Paradox forms in development for the DLC. It could be that for whatever reason, they are simply being kept a close secret by Nintendo. The creation of new Paradox Pokémon may also be separate from the main DLC, with them being intended for distribution in a manner similar to the previous release of Walking Wake and Iron Leaves through Tera Raid Battles. However, with there being no clear evidence to these suppositions (even through more unofficial channels), the potential introduction of more Paradox Pokémon does seem to be becoming less likely as time goes on.
Just as the future introduction of new Paradox Pokémon is uncertain, the reasons for their apparent absence in the DLC are equally unclear. It seems illogical for The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero to not include more of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Paradox Pokémon, but the current lack of evidence casts a strong doubt on any such Pokémon’s existence. Ultimately, it seems that all fans can do at present is wait to see if there will be further news regarding these unique Pokémon forms. If there truly are no further Paradox Pokémon, then many players will undoubtedly be disappointed by this turn of events.
