Several cast from the series Ann Veal on Arrested Development.
Parenthood is a series with a very similar premise to NBC's hit family series This Is Us. Set in Berkeley, California, it follows the Braverman family over three generations. Nelson's Zeek Braverman and Bonnie Bedelia's Connie Braverman are the grandparents, overseeing the lives of their four adult children (Krause's Adam, Graham's Sarah, Shepard's Crosby, and Christensen's Julia) as well as their various spouses and children.
Per Deadline, Parenthood cast Shephard, Christensen, Bryant, and Potter were able to reunite this Friday at Austin's ATX Festival. During the , they were asked where they thought their characters might be today, seven years after the Parenthood finale. Shepard said he thought Crosby would open a gym while Bryant thinks her character, Adam's wife Kristina, would be pregnant. Christensen and Bryant, who played Crosby's wife Jasmine, also chimed in on whether or not their characters would have children. Read their quotes below:
Joy Bryant: I would probably have two more kids. Wasn’t I pregnant? In real life, not by choice, I tend to play moms. I think throughout my career I’ve had like 10 TV kids and one grandchild. I’m doing pretty good.
Erika Christensen: In the final moments of the show, we learned that they have four kids now. So, I think they would stop at four but I have no idea. Parenthood is the name of the game.
Although the premiere of This Is Us spurred rumors of a Parenthood reboot, the stars of the series have spread out and gone onto completely new projects. Graham, for instance, has been kept busy with roles on NBC's musical comedy series Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist and the Disney+ reboot The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. Meanwhile, other cast including Craig T. Nelson have spent much more time in movies than TV since the ending of Parenthood.
With so many different reboots of Parenthood already existing (including a 2015 Italian series titled Tutto può succedere), it seems unlikely that there will ever be a real follow-up on this particular set of characters. Thankfully, the performers know their characters so well after playing them for five years that they can check in on themselves as regularly as they can. Hopefully, a gathering of more than four of them can occur on a bigger anniversary, perhaps to celebrate 10 years since the finale in 2025.
