Few characters in Parks & Recreation made its debut on NBC in 2009 and came to an end in 2015 after seven seasons.

Parks & Recreation followed the lives of Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott), with the latter becoming Leslie’s husband and working with her a couple of times. Ben was very mature and work-oriented, which can be attributed to a very bad and public experience from his teenage days.

Ice Town was a big shadow over Ben’s life for a long time, and though he was very young when he came up with that idea, a revelation in season 6 has made fans think that he had other intentions when it came to Ice Town, and they had nothing to do with his inexperience in politics.

Parks & Recreation Theory: Ben Created Ice Town Because Of A Kink

Ben Wyatt is from Partridge, Minnesota, where he became the mayor at the age of 18. He didn’t last long as he came up with the idea of Ice Town, which led the town to bankruptcy and caused the unemployment rate to hit 30%, which earned him the nickname of “Ice Clown”, and was unofficially banned from Partridge. Ben went on to become state auditor, which is how he ended up in Pawnee, but he was still reminded about the Ice Town issue from time to time. Though it’s generally assumed that it was all due to his immaturity and inexperience, a fan theory suggests Ben’s reasons to create Ice Town were rooted on a kink.

In season 6’s episode “Filibuster”, Leslie organizes a 90’s themed birthday party for Ben at the local roller skating rink, mainly because Ben has “a thing” for girls in skates. This becomes evident when Leslie ends up filibustering while in full costume and skates, with Ben telling Chris that it’s “like a crazy sex fantasy” for him. The theory, then, suggests that Ben’s kink was originally for all kinds of skates, and that’s why he was so devoted to Ice Town – his fetish pretty much left his town bankrupt. As he was impeached as a result, ice skates stopped being of interest to him, but roller skates still had a certain effect on him. Fetish or not, Ice Town is definitely not something Ben Wyatt likes to talk about, and as Parks & Recreation never really explained the whole story behind it, it will remain a mystery, and fans can do whatever they want with it.
