Path of Exile 2's Ritual system can be a great source of endgame gear and Divine Orbs, but how can this be most effective? The early access for the hit ARPG has been off to a good start but hasn't been without issues. However, many of these issues are on a smaller scale and have been worked out or are being worked out. This will continue over the next six months. The early access is planned to last but could be extended if needed.

One of the best parts of PoE 2's endgame is the currency exchange. This system, unlocked once reaching the Cruel difficulty of the game, will become a your best friend throughout the endgame. It allows you to trade currency items with other players, significantly lessening the tedious grind for them to drop. This system also comes with an exchange rate board showing the current selling price for every type of traded item.

How Rituals Work In Path Of Exile 2

A Rewarding Challenge

Ritual Altars can be found sprinkled along maps on specific waystones. Any waystone with a Ritual symbol will have a series of altars spread throughout the node. These altar sites will have set enemies that must be defeated, which will then revive on activation of the altar. Each altar will have one of five different conditions that will alter the fight in some form, along with having a limited area you can move around in.

Contaminated

Waves of blood will through the arena.

Infested

A deadly tornado will follow you around the arena.

Sapping

Purple clouds fill the arena; standing in them lowers elemental resistance, and enemies inside will gain elemental resistance.

Smothered

Explosive pods will form in the arena and follow you.

Tainted

Enemy deaths will create explosive pods that explode when you are nearby.

Tribute Points will be earned by killing enemies with a Ritual Altar active. These points are then used to claim or defer items accessed through altars after completion. These points will carry throughout the map, but once a new map is started, Tribute Points are reset to zero.

A Periodic Event

Rituals can be found on maps in two ways. The first is randomly spawning on certain waystones, as mentioned prior. The second way is by using a Ritual Precursor Tablet on Watchtowers. These tablets have a chance of dropping from Ritual enemies on previous nodes. Once used, these tablets will make five to ten of the map nodes in range of the Watchtower have Ritual Altars.

Quantity With Quality

The best method to farm Divine Orbs from Ritual Altars is to get as many altars as possible. The Omens these rituals will drop are what you will look to buy in exchange for Divine Orbs. However, some Omens are completely worthless, and others will net a large amount of orbs. In this regard, it is never bad to collect them all and stash them just in case prices fluctuate. Still, looking at the Currency Exchange before going into a map will show what Omens are getting the most orbs.

Path of Exile 2 can get a bit cluttered with all the different currencies and equipment, but using this filter makes collecting a breeze.

In short, the process should go something like this. Target map nodes that naturally have Ritual symbols and complete these rituals for Omens and possible tablet drops. Once tablets have been acquired, get to any open Watchtowers to use the tablet and gain more Ritual nodes. Repeat this process until death or enough Omens are successfully acquired.

The Best Ritual Atlas Tree

Increasing The Difficulty

The Atlas Skill Tree has a specific branch for Ritual effects, which can be a huge boon when farming. These are split between ones that reward more tribute/item farming and others that are more focused on enemy drops. Since this process is for farming Omens to trade for Divine Orbs, the former skills can be ignored.

In this regard, the best skills to get are "From The Mists," "Spreading Darkness," and "Ominous Portents." From The Mists will give every Altar two extra packs of monsters, increasing the chances of tablets dropping. Meanwhile, Spreading Darkness guarantees that any node that contains Rituals will always have four Altars. Finally, Ominous Portents will cause enemies to spawn faster but reward you with 50% more chances for Omens to drop.

A final option that can be used if desired is "He Approaches." This skill will increase the rarity of monsters during a ritual but also increase the chance for An Audience With The King to drop. This is optional because it can be somewhat overkill given the other skills used, combined with the increasing difficulty. Those who feel comfortable with the added challenge can use it freely, but those looking to farm with a safer experience can on this skill.

Saving For The Future

While farming for Divines or taking on Ritual Altars for the normal rewards, deferring good items is never a bad idea. Deferring an item will cost a small amount of tribute, but lock the item exactly how it is. It will then reappear at a future Ritual for a lower Tribute price.

This process can be repeated as often as possible, and some Atlas skill nodes can benefit from deferring items if desired.

Overall, Ritual Altars are a great endgame farming resource for numerous options. Though it may not give major upgrades for builds, what it can occasionally offer is worth doing, given what can be done in conjunction. Omens can be used to trade for Divine Orbs and any other crafting currency you need, making them incredibly valuable. In this regard, this is the best way to farm Ritual Altar for Omens to trade for Divine Orbs and other currencies in Path of Exile 2.
