The From Nothing Diamond is a valuable piece of loot in Path of Exile 2 build: Skill Gems to unlock new abilities, gear to grant you special perks, and skill points to unlock game-changing ives. Although your abilities have the most obvious impact at the beginning of the game, ives arguably become more important over time, completely changing the specialization of your build.

Of course, it won't be easy to unlock the From Nothing Diamond - you'll have to beat a difficult boss, there's no guarantee you'll even get the From Nothing Diamond to drop, and even then, you may get a type that's of no particular use to your character. Even so, here's how you can get a chance at unlocking the From Nothing Diamond and reaping its valuable benefits.

How To Get From Nothing Diamond

Finding The King In The Mists

The From Nothing Diamond is only dropped by the King in the Mists at difficulty level four, a tough endgame pinnacle boss you can only fight once you've gained access to the Atlas of Worlds. In order to face the King in the Mists, you'll need to find a rare item called An Audience with the King. This is typically purchased from an Altar of Favors, and can cost anywhere from 2,900 and 3,700 Tribute. You can defer it to make it less expensive.

You can then take your Audience back to the Realmgate and place it inside to open a way to the Crux of Nothingness. Thus begins your fight against the King in the Mists.

Beating The King In The Mists

The King in the Mists is a tough, two-phase fight with a curious gimmick in the middle. You'll have to face him at difficulty level four to add the From Nothing Diamond to his loot table. We'll give you the gist here, but for a complete explanation on how to beat the King in the Mists, see our Ingenuity Utility Belt guide here.

During phase one, your main goal is to keep moving at all times to avoid the immobility curse the King will try to cast on you. Destroy totems when he creates them to prevent them from emanating waves of damage. Climb up the ramps along the sides when the mist appears to avoid losing too much HP to that attack. Keep dodging his projectiles, and wear him down to a third of his HP bar to start phase two.

But before you can do that, you'll find yourself in a maze of roots. Simply follow the wisps to get out. Phase two consists of a near-constant AoE barrage. As always, keep moving, and dodge when attacks come your way. In particular, you'll want to watch out for the tornado he summons, as it'll inflict armor break and open you up to a lot more damage. But once he's defeated, you'll receive your loot. At difficulty level four, you have a chance to obtain any of the following:

  • Ingenuity Utility Belt
  • Pragmatism Explorer Armor
  • From Nothing Diamond
  • The Burden of Shadows Chiming Staff
  • Beetlebite Velour Shoes

Buying A From Nothing Diamond

As an alternative, you can always purchase a From Nothing Diamond from the official Path of Exile 2 marketplace. Prices seem to range, currently, from about 40 to 80 Exalted Orbs, depending on the skill affected. This may seem like a shortcut, but farming Exalted Orbs takes time, too.

You should only ever use the official Path of Exile 2 trade marketplace linked above; be cautious of other sites.

How The From Nothing Diamond Works

Path of Exile 2 class skill tree

Once you've found a From Nothing Diamond, you can place it into an allocated slot on your ive skill tree. Each From Nothing Diamond is tied to a particular keystone ive, and draws a radius around that ive, allowing you to allocate skills within that radius even if they're not connected to the rest of your tree.

In other words, you can unlock the ives within the Diamond's radius without having to build a path to them by unlocking other nodes on the skill tree. This grants you a lot more flexibility with your Path of Exile 2 build, allowing you to jump around the ive tree.
