Patrick Wilson's Orm won't be the main villain in Aquaman, but after his plans to wage war on the surface world were foiled and the return of his mother, Atlanna (Nicole Kidman), it seems like Orm will be more accepting of Arthur's rule of Atlantis.
Warner Bros.' only superhero offering last year after taking a long break following the financial disappointment that was The Trench), but don't expect Orm to play Aquaman 2's big bad.

During an appearance at the Word bookstore in Jersey City, New Jersey to promote The Art and Making of Aquaman (via Syfy Wire), Wilson talked about Orm's future in the DCEU. The actor itted that he's uncertain where his character's arc is headed, but cites that at this point, he can't be easily killed. And while his appearance in Aquaman 2 still isn't locked in, he says that if he does the sequel, Orm will not be Arthur's main foe.
"I don’t know what the future holds for Orm … You can’t kill him. He’s too important to [Arthur’s] journey … he’s a foil to [his character]. He’s not gonna be a main villain in another movie. I don’t think Orm ends up in Belle Reve like he does in the New 52. I assume they’re gonna keep him in some kind of jail below the surface. If [James] wants me back, I’m certainly happy to come back."
Considering where things were left with Orm, it seemed like he had fully accepted defeat and would be less antagonistic toward Arthur by the time Aquaman 2 rolls around. Although Orm still needs to face the consequences of his actions in Aquaman, chances are that Arthur will be more interested in patching things up with his half-brother than anything else. Their expected reconciliation will be made much easier with Atlanna around. Perhaps the DCEU can develop their relationship similarly to Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in the MCU, which fans love.
So if Orm switches sides and becomes Arthur's ally, who's likely going to be Aquaman 2's lead villain? The post-credit scene of Aquaman teased a possible partnership between Black Manta/David Kane (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Dr. Stephen Shin (Randall Park). The two characters have very different motivations, but both want to infiltrate Atlantis. Given Orm's loyalty to his kingdom, there's a chance he might even team-up with Arthur as they battle it out with Black Manta and Shin.
