The developer of Payday 2 has capitalized on today's sequel with Payday 3 releasing in 2023 following some development problems.
Spoiler warning: The following article contains the answer for April 26, 2022's Wordle puzzle.
A large part of what has helped make Wordle an internet phenomenon is arguably its potential for friendly competition. Whilst the game does not multiplayer directly, players can easily share their scores on Twitter and other social media platforms. This has, in turn, sparked a daily conversation about the difficulty of the day's Wordle answer online. The game has also spawned a multitude of clones in recent months, and even a tie-in puzzle book. With all that in mind, the only real surprise in recent times regarding the success of the game has been the revelation that it is only Twitter's second most popular game of 2022.
Today's Wordle answer (spoilers ahead) has sparked a response from the official the new Fortnite-themed clone Fortle.
Achieving a perfect one-guess Wordle score isn't easy, and is in fact more down to chance than anything else. Even with a helpful tweet pointing in the right direction, there is usually a range of answers to try. As such, it may be that some of the tweets replying to PAYDAY 2 are not entirely genuine, especially considering that many appear to be first-time players based on their screenshots. It could be that some have faked a perfect score on a new device, following a less successful attempt on another. This would not be too surprising; there are many who have done stranger things for online bragging rights, especially with a game like Wordle where it's easier to guess wrong answers.
Today's Wordle answer is, as always, almost entirely random, but the coincidence is certainly serendipitous for the developers of Payday, especially with a new game in the series currently in the works. The team behind Payday has been able to make excellent use of the opportunity afforded to them, and have generated some free interest in both Payday 2 and the game's sequel. It is a clever marketing stunt, born of a stroke of luck that other game developers are sure to be envious of. With the franchise having celebrated its 10th-anniversary last year, the timing dovetails perfectly with the building anticipation for Payday 3.
