Netflix's People We Meet on Vacation has found its romantic leads. The movie is based on the 2021 New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Emily Henry, which follows polar opposite best friends Poppy Wright and Alex Nilsen, whose yearly vacations are broken off for two years after an incident that causes a rift between them. However, when they reunite for one more trip, more than friendship may blossom between them. The story will be brought to the screen by director Brett Haley, who previously helmed 2018's Hearts Beat Loud.

Per Deadline, Tom Blyth and Emily Bader have been set to star in the adaptation of People We Meet on Vacation. In the wake of the announcement, Netflix shared a video on X showcasing Bader's reaction to the announcement. See the post below:

In the video, Haley informs the actor that she has gotten the part, at which point she celebrates with both Blyth and Henry, the latter of whom says "I have been... kind of an anxious wreck."

Before ing the cast of People We Meet on Vacation, Tom Blyth was likely best known for leading the Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes cast as the younger version of the future Panem President Coriolanus Snow. However, he has held another prominent role as the title character in the Epix Western show Billy the Kid. The up-and-coming star is also set to appear in several other prominent projects that are currently in the works, including the video game movie Watch Dogs and the Hemingway adaptation A Farewell to Arms.

The Hunger Games fans will be able to explore President Snow’s past, as The Ballads of Songbirds and Snakes focuses on his rise to power.

Bader has also made a name for herself, having recently led the My Lady Jane cast. She stars in the genre-bending Prime Video show as Lady Jane Grey, a 16th century noblewoman in an alternate universe where England is overrun by people who can transform into animals. Other prominent titles in which Bader can be seen include the horror sequel Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, the Jennifer Esposito-written-and-directed crime thriller Fresh Kills and the CW supernatural drama reboot show Charmed.

Emily Bader played the pixie Chloe Periwinkle on five episodes of Charmed between 2019 and 2022.

People We Meet on Vacation offers both stars an opportunity to take on a prominent role set in the present day. While this may force them to stretch their muscles somewhat after becoming best known for various period pieces, this could also allow them both more opportunities for contemporary-set work in the future. Both have also previously proven their mettle as romantic leads, so that aspect of the movie should present them with little challenge.
