Percy Jackson season 2 adds Rosemarie DeWitt, Aleks Paunovic, and two more stars, including a new character exclusively for the Disney+ series.

ScreenRant's Liam Crowley spoke with Simhadri, Jeffries, and Scobell at Disney Upfront to discuss each of their characters' evolved dynamics with his unexpected sibling.

Aryan Simhadri Sees Development In Grover's Moments Of Isolation

"My filming schedule was different from everybody..."

The trio will be split up for a bulk of Percy Jackson & the Olympians season 2.

As teed up by the season 1 finale, Grover has departed on his search for Pan, the lost god of the wild. This isolation is not completely new to the satyr, as he previously had an extended one-on-one with the god of war, Ares (Adam Copeland), in a crucial season 1 episode.

When asked if those moments of solitude help him discover more about who Grover is, Aryan Simhadri said "100 percent."

"That's a fantastic question. I think the most development happened, oddly enough, when I was alone," Simhadri said. "Also, just personally, I was genuinely just alone in there. My filming schedule was different from everybody. He's forced to take care of himself, and he's in a situation that's so personal to him. It's like seeing Uncle Ferdinand in Medusa's cave, but just 10 times worse, and so he's forced to step up and take this leadership role that he's not really used to as a protector. It was an interesting new dynamic."

Leah Jeffries Believes There's "Still Good" In Luke

"Annabeth will still see that there's something behind you..."

"New dynamic" will be a recurring theme this season.

Annabeth is dealing with her own changed relationships, most evident with longtime friend Luke. The son of Hermes arrived at Camp Half-Blood alongside Annabeth and the late Thalia Grace (Tamara Smart) while all three were still very young, leading to all three becoming fairly close. That made it all the more painful when Luke turned on all of Camp Half-Blood and aligned with Kronos in an ongoing effort to overthrow the gods on Olympus.

"That's a really good question. Honestly, I think Annabeth still tries to see good in him," Jeffries said when asked where Annabeth stands with Luke in season 2. "I don't think she [fully] sees it, but I think she's trying to see it. Her mind is very much like she sees what's not there, like Luke's mom, how she could see things before other people. If you are a bad person, Annabeth will still see that there's something behind you that no one else knows."

Walker Scobell Takes On A Parental Role In Season 2

"I'm his guardian, I have to take care of him..."

Rounding out the new dynamics is Percy Jackson himself, as he becomes a big brother. Season 2 will introduce Tyson (Daniel Diemer), a cyclops who is also a son of Poseidon.

"I think definitely," Scobell said when asked if Percy replicates any of Sally's parental traits with Tyson. "I think from the very beginning, basically the first scene, you see Sally treating Tyson the same way that you kind see her treating Percy in the first season. When we get to Camp Half-Blood, things are weird because I have to be [Tyson's] mom, I guess, or his big brother to take care of him. I'm his guardian, and so I have to take care of him, and so I have to get that through my head. I treat him a little differently at the start."

Percy Jackson & the Olympians season 2 premieres on Disney+ this December.
