Grand Theft Auto 6 has been utterly radio silent since the first trailer for the highly-anticipated sequel dropped on December 5, 2023. It’s been almost a year since Rockstar released any more information on the open-world follow-up to Grand Theft Auto 5 and fans are getting desperate. Since the discussion about GTA 6 has died down in the roughly 10 months since the first trailer came out, releasing a second trailer would generate even more excitement.

So far, the only information officially released about GTA 6 is that it will be released in Fall 2025 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and that the game will bring the series back to Vice City. New characters include a female protagonist named Lucia, a first since the series switched to open-world, and an unnamed male partner evading the law and robbing stores together. The trailer did not reveal much about the story, instead mostly showcasing the incredibly detail-rich scenes of typical Florida residents living their GTA-style lives.

It's Time For A New Trailer

Making Fans Wait Any Longer Will Only Raise Expectations

Fan desperation for more updates on GTA 6 may be reaching critical levels as the days by and 2025 looms ever closer without any crumbs of information from Rockstar Games. In recent days, fans on the GTA 6 subreddit have been scraping the first (and only) trailer for any and all details, spotlighting everything from parking spots, toilet paper, and even misplaced ceiling tiles, among other minor game details. The dissection of every last detail proves just how hungry for details fans really are.

Since it's not been quite a full year since the first trailer came out, now would be a perfect time to tease GTA 6 with another short teaser trailer or even official screenshots. Once 2025 arrives, expectations for new information and a set release date will be at an all-time high. Waiting too long for more news could even hurt GTA 6 and Rockstar, as fan hopes are now so high that their wishlist for features and inclusions is getting far beyond the capability of current-gen hardware.

Betrayal is such a major theme throughout Rockstar Studio's games, Grand Theft Auto 6's treachery storyline has an opportunity to top all the rest.

Hackers May Have Ruined Trailers Too

Past Hacks Could Have Made Rockstar Wary Of Releasing New Information

Unfortunately, Rockstar Games might have very good reasons to remain tight-lipped. The studio has suffered historic leaks since development for Grand Theft Auto 6 began, with gameplay leaking in December 2023. That massive gameplay leak wasn’t the only blow to Rockstar, as the first trailer was leaked just hours before the studio planned on releasing it, which forced them to publish it ahead of schedule despite having a reveal event planned.

Rockstar might not be planning on releasing a trailer anytime soon because of past leaks, and how they might have tarnished the company's reputation. However, if it plans on releasing Grand Theft Auto 6 at all, then some other new trailer or information will have to come out, and it's better sooner than later.
