JRPG classic had been exclusive to the Playstation Vita since 2012, and fans had been begging for a port for many years.
Their hopes were risen when, a few days prior to the PC Gaming Show, it was rumored that Persona 4 Golden would be coming to Steam according to a SteamDB listing. It was also rumored that Persona 3 Portable would be released on Steam, as well, though this has yet to be confirmed. As predicted, Persona 4 Golden was silently released on Steam on June 13, and fans rejoiced at the game being given new life on a new platform.
As discovered by Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition's previous record of 29,279 players. At the time of writing, the game is still listed as a top seller on Steam, currently placing number 3 globally. Nearly 30 percent of players have already cleared the first dungeon in the game, demonstrating a level of player interest and engagement beyond a willingness to open their wallets.
Ports of past and current Persona 5 Switch port is possible if fans kept voicing what they wanted to Atlus. Twitter s spread the hashtag #BreakFreePersona, asking Atlus to port Persona 3, 4, and 5 over to Switch to end Sony's franchise hegemony.
Persona 4 Golden coming to Steam is a big step towards that goal. Now, it should be more clear to Atlus than ever that fans do want ports of these beloved JRPGs, as they can see that they remain very financially successful for them. Hopefully, Atlus can look at this success as an example to port the other two Persona games to PC, as well as Nintendo Switch. With Joker in Persona 5 Royal would be very receptive to buying that after experiencing its predecessor. The hopes of that vision becoming a reality are higher than ever thanks to Persona 4 Golden's newfound success on Steam.
