The Beatles: Get Back has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, as announced by Disney on Friday. Disney revealed the new release date to be August 27, 2021, nearly a full year out from the original release date. The news comes amid multiple other movie delays, and is part of Disney's ongoing evaluation of when to release their films.

While practically every movie has had its release date pushed back, the delay of Jackson's The Beatles: Get Back is surprising because it's been pushed back for an entire year. As a reworking of previously recorded footage, one would think this documentary is one of the few projects whose work could continue largely uninterrupted by the pandemic, but that doesn't appear to be true. In which case, fans looking forward to seeing The Beatles portrayed in a more upbeat light, as opposed to the 1970 film chronicling the band's breakup, will now have their patience tested for another year as they await the release of The Beatles: Get Back.
