The Peter Pan & Wendy cast features a wide variety of actors, ranging from seasoned stars to young performers making their first-ever movie appearance. A live-action remake of Disney’s classic animated Peter Pan movie from 1953, Peter Pan & Wendy revolves around the titular duo’s adventure to the magical world of Neverland where they contend with a notorious pirate named Captain Hook. Peter Pan & Wendy is director David Lowery’s second Disney movie after Pete’s Dragon, one of the earliest and most critically acclaimed in the Mouse House’s ongoing series of live-action remakes of its classics.
There are both familiar faces and promi-and-comers in the Peter Pan & Wendy cast. The title characters are played by relative newcomers – Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson, respectively – but the ing cast includes screen icons like Jude Law, Jim Gaffigan, and the young but prolific Yara Shahidi. During the long development of the Peter Pan remake, Disney hired some of the most reliable actors in Hollywood to take on the daunting task of bringing its beloved animated characters into the live-action realm.
Alexander Molony As Peter Pan
Alexander Molony plays Peter Pan, the boy who never grows up. The remake presents Peter Pan as a more complex and even darker version of the hero. Peter is afraid of being left alone and therefore is against the idea of anyone leaving Neverland. Even when he comes to the conclusion that the other Lost Boys need a new home, Peter decides that he is meant to stay where he is.
The title role in Peter Pan & Wendy marks Molony’s live-action film debut. He previously voiced the character of Alex in the English-language dub of the French-Belgian animated anthology movie The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales..., released in 2017. Molony is best known as Charlie, the son of comedian Romesh Ranganathan’s lead character in the Sky sitcom The Reluctant Landlord. He also played the minor role of Victor opposite Mckenna Grace’s killer Emma Grossman in the made-for-TV horror movie The Bad Seed Returns, a sequel to 2018’s The Bad Seed.
Ever Anderson As Wendy Darling
Ever Anderson plays the second title character, adventurous Londoner Wendy Darling, in the Peter Pan & Wendy cast. This version of the story focuses on Wendy grappling with being on the edge of childhood and becoming a young adult. She is afraid to leave her carefree youth behind but finds herself taking responsibility of all the youngsters in Neverland. In the end, she learns that those "happy thoughts" don't have to just be childhood memories but the whole life she has ahead of her.
Anderson is the daughter of actor Milla Jovovich and filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson. She made her movie debut in her father’s film Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, playing the younger version of her mother’s character, Alice. Anderson is most renowned for playing the younger incarnation of Natasha Romanoff in the flashback sequences of the Marvel superhero movie Black Widow. Peter Pan & Wendy marks Anderson’s first leading role in a feature film.
Jude Law As Captain Hook
The villainous pirate, Captain Hook, is played by Jude Law. Though he is still the frightening and vicious leader of the pirates, this version of Captain Hook is far more sympathetic. He was once one of the Lost Boys and Peter's best friend. But he left in search of his mother, coming back to Neverland as a grown man looking for revenge on the friend who betrayed him. In the end, Peter apologizes for mistreating Hook and the two acknowledge their special need for each other in Neverland. Many critics praised Law's performance as the best part of Peter Pan & Wendy.
Law is known for playing Dr. Watson in the Sherlock Holmes films, a younger Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter spin-off series Fantastic Beasts, and mentor-turned-villain Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel. He first rose to prominence with the role of Dickie Greenleaf in The Talented Mr. Ripley, which earned Law the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a ing Role and an Oscar nomination in the same category. Law also played Russian sniper Vasily Zaitsev in Enemy at the Gates and countryside widower Graham Simpkins in The Holiday. He will next be seen in the Star Wars series Skeleton Crew.
Yara Shahidi As Tinker Bell
Yara Shahidi appears in the Peter Pan & Wendy cast as Tinker Bell, a fairy and Peter’s best friend. Tinker Bell's fairy voice cannot be heard by Wendy throughout the movie, until she is able to understand her farewell at the movie's end. Tinker Bell is once again shown to be Peter's loyal companion, returning to Neverland with him.
Shahidi is best known for playing the oldest daughter Zoey Johnson on the sitcom Black-ish and its spin-off series Grown-ish. Her other film roles include Janelle Cross in the Tyler Perry-starring action thriller Alex Cross and Olivia Danielson, the daughter of Eddie Murphy’s character, in the family-friendly fantasy comedy Imagine That. She has also played voice roles in animated projects, like Brenda in Smallfoot, Darci Scott in 3Below: Tales of Arcadia, and Kendra Wilson in PAW Patrol: The Movie.
Joshua Pickering As John Darling
Wendy’s younger brother, John Darling, is played by Joshua Pickering. He is the youthful sibling who quickly finds himself captured by the pirates as soon as they arrive in Neverland.
This leading role in the Peter Pan & Wendy cast is Pickering’s first acting credit in a feature-length movie. Sometimes credited as Joshua Blue Pickering, Pickering previously played the younger version of psychotherapist Michael Leer, Greg Davies’ lead character in the sitcom Safe Space. He also played the role of Liam in the short film Hope After Suicide in 2019. Besides John in Peter Pan & Wendy, Pickering’s most famous role to date is Jack Blackfriars, who he played in six episodes of A Discovery of Witches.
Jacobi Jupe As Michael Darling
The Peter Pan & Wendy cast features an appearance by Jacobi Jupe as Michael Darling, Wendy and John’s younger brother. Before playing Michael in Peter Pan & Wendy, Jupe’s most high-profile role was Cyrus in eight episodes of the British-American historical fantasy drama series Britannia on Epix and Prime Video. Jupe’s voice can also be hard alongside Diego Boneta, Naomi Ackie, and Rupert Friend in the role of Beau on the comedy podcast series Cupid. Peter Pan & Wendy marks the first time that Jupe has appeared in a feature film.
Alyssa Wapanatâhk As Tiger Lily
The daughter of Neverland’s tribal chief and a badass warrior princess, Tiger Lily is played by Alyssa Wapanatâhk. Unlike the original animated movie, Tiger Lily is the only member of her tribe shown in the movie. Tiger Lily has been a controversial aspect of Peter Pan for many years but this iteration helps address those issues with this heroic and respectful interpretation of the character.
Wapanatâhk began her career with roles in short films (Zoe in Swansong, Sam in Pookmis, and unnamed characters in Robo Games and Pure Love), credited as Alyssa Alook. She also wrote and directed the short Napes Kasêkipatwât – The Boy & The Braid in 2019. Her previous movie roles include Chloe Cardinal in Rehab and Perseverance Spears in the psychological drama Bones of Crows, both released in 2022. The role of Tiger Lily in Peter Pan & Wendy is Wapanatâhk’s highest-profile role to date.
Jim Gaffigan As Mr. Smee
Jim Gaffigan appears in the Peter Pan & Wendy cast as Captain Hook’s faithful first mate, Mr. Smee. He is less of the bumbling sidekick seen in other iterations and more of an old advisor who is unhappy to see Hook embracing his villainous side. There is also a hint of him as a father figure to Hook as he was the one who rescued Hook from the ocean as a young boy.
Gaffigan is best known as a standup comedian with clean observations about universal subjects like fatherhood and food. His comedy specials Mr. Universe, Obsessed, Cinco, and Quality Time have all received Grammy nominations. Gaffigan co-created and starred in his own semi-autobiographical sitcom, The Jim Gaffigan Show, on TV Land. As an actor, Gaffigan has played Larry Johnson in Super Troopers, Coach Murphy in 17 Again, and Ramsey in Troop Zero. He’s also recognizable as the voice of Abraham Van Helsing in Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and Hotel Transylvania: Transformania.
