One of the most beloved horror games on Dead By Daylight may be the reigning champion of asymmetrical multiplayer, ghost-hunting titles have taken off in their own right. Handled correctly, there's nothing more fun than skulking around an abandoned cabin in the woods trying to avoid whatever phantom haunts the basement.
Fortunately for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S owners, they'll soon be able to experience those thrills and chills as an official developer update on Steam confirms that Phasmophobia is coming to consoles. Developer Kinetic Games revealed that it's working closely with Unity to ensure that when the notoriously janky game does arrive on consoles, it'll be properly optimized for the systems and should hopefully play like a dream. The best part is that the PS5 and Xbox launch isn't too far off: Phasmophobia's console port arrives in time for the game's ever-popular Halloween event.

How Demonologist’s Co-Op Horror Gameplay Compares To Phasmophobia
Both Phasmophobia and Demonologist are co-op horror video games about investigating and surviving haunted houses. Their gameplay, however, differs.
What To Expect From Phasmophobia's Console Launch
Some Minor Changes Are Unavoidable
As exciting as it may be for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players to finally have access to Phasmophobia, the console version will launch with one major absence: Voice Recognition. One of the hallmarks of the game is the ability to ask ghosts questions as a means to identify the entity; this is accomplished by s simply speaking into their microphones but that apparently won't be feasible on consoles just yet. Kinetic Games states that console players will need to use text input to communicate with ghosts but Voice Recognition will eventually be added to the game.
Additionally, Phasmophobia will soon receive a small price increase to go alongside the console release. Towards the end of the year, the game's price will rise from $13,99 to $19,99 which may seem like a sharp increase but given the amount of content added over the last four years, it still feels fair. There's plenty to unlock and discover now and with more content patches planned for the future, a bump in cost is justified.
Phasmophobia continues to be one of the most popular horror multiplayer games on Steam and with the console launch so close, the audience will likely grow exponentially. Thanks to cross-play, friends will be able to play together no matter what device they use. There's never been a better time to gear up and start researching deadly paranormal entities.
