Through a series of cosmic hijinks, this week Galactus. Last week, the mysterious part the Phoenix played in Thor's birth was finally clarified in Avengers 1,000,000 BC. Now, in Defenders: Beyond #2, it turns out the former Devourer of Worlds has a familial connection of his own to the Phoenix Force. Taken together, it turns out Thor's most villainous brother was never Loki, but Galactus.
The Galactus' Ultimate Weapon Is Finally Explained in Huge Marvel Lore Change
Taaia, from the sixth iteration of Eternity, is part of the new Defenders team as they push beyond all that is known. By the end of Defenders: Beyond #2 by Al Ewing, Javier Rodriguez, VC's Joe Caramagna, and Wil Moss, Taaia and her compatriots have found themselves beyond the dwelling place of the Beyonders and entered the Phoenix's White Hot Room. The final page reveals Taaia's new form as a Phoenix host, and Defenders: Beyond #3 promises an in depth follow up on this new development. It will be intriguing to see if Taaia's new role as Phoenix will impact her relationship with her baby Galan, the man who will become Galactus.
Although the Phoenix played no role in the birth of Galan, she finds herself to be the mother of Galactus. This means that while there may be no biological connection between the two, Thor and Galactus are technically half-brothers on their mom's side. This development is shocking since Thor recently killed Galactus. Thankfully Galactus has recovered and no longer hungers for planets, but it still might be good for these brothers to talk it out.
The Phoenix Force works in mysterious ways, and parenting an All-Father and World Devourer are just new facets in her ongoing journey at Marvel. The God of Thunder has many siblings, but since becoming All-Father he easily could consider himself the most powerful among them. That will all change if Thor ever finds out that Galactus is technically his half-brother.
