It looks like someone in the Ace Attorney's Herlock Sholmes Game Finally Comes West In JulyRecently, Twitter ZiddyBones posted an entertaining sprite of infamous TV defense attorney Saul Goodman edited in place of fellow defense attorney Phoenix Wright. As the eponymous criminal defense attorney of AMC’s crime drama Better Call Saul, Saul Goodman seems right at home in Ace Attorney’s Los Angeles Courtroom as he is in Albuquerque, New Mexico. ZiddyBones provides two well-crafted sprites of Saul Goodman, featuring him in a ive profile and one of him in Phoenix Wright’s iconic OBJECTION! pose. As these sprites only feature Saul Goodman, one wonders if Saul's nemesis, Howard Hamlin, would substitute Ace Attorney prosecutor Miles Edgeworth.
Saul Goodman OBJECTS in This Ace Attorney Fan Sprite
While not yet referenced in gaming as much as its progenitor Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul has been making its way across digital entertainment. Surprisingly, Saul Goodman and crew previously appeared in Ace Attorney via fan art before, courtesy of an Ace Attorney box mockup featuring Better Call Saul's cast. Meanwhile, Giancarlo Esposito, who portrayed Better Call Saul's villainous Gustavo Fring, played another brutal villain in Far Cry 6 and seemingly made a reference to his character in AMC’s crime drama. With the show still going strong in viewership, it may be a matter of time before other video game franchises decide to call Saul.
ZiddyBones' accurate sprite of Saul Goodman does beg the question of what the tenacious attorney would be like in other Capcom-based scenarios. After all, if anyone could get Umbrella off for all the horrible things it has done in Resident Evil, it would probably be Saul Goodman. Besides, if Walter White can navigate Elden Ring, surely Saul Goodman's charisma can carry him through Dragon's Dogma. Until more creative fans manifest these unorthodox crossovers, Better Call Saul's Saul Goodman will always have a familiar haunt within the Ace Attorney franchise.
