Most unlock more Pikmin in Pikmin 4, making them just as valuable.

Players do not have to pick up the two duplicate Onions. However, they will get 20 Pikmin of that type added to their inventory, Yellow or Blue Pikmin in Pikmin 4, depending on which Onion is collected if they collect the second Onion. Note that it does not matter which of the Onions is collected first. For example, the second Yellow Onion can be collected before the first; whichever one is collected second will be the one that rewards the extra Pikmin. The initial Blue and Yellow Onions will likely require players to return to the level later to retrieve them.

All Onion Locations

As stated, there are eight different colored onions, two of which have duplicates that can be found in a secondary location. The colors include Red, Yellow, Blue, Light Blue (Ice), Black (Rock), Pink (Winged), White, and Purple, each of which represents a different type of Pikmin in Pikmin 4.

Aside from the two duplicates, which include a Yellow and Blue Onion, there will only be one of each to be found. The Onions will be scattered over various locations in the game and accessible at different points during the story, so the same general order of discovering the Onions will be the same for most players.

Red Onion	Location
Red Onion	The Red Onion is the easiest to find as it is essentially given at the Rescue Command Post at the start of the game.
Yellow Onion #1	In Sun-Speckled Terrace, the first Yellow Onion can be found blocked off by a paper bag which will need to be crushed in order to reach the Onion.
Yellow Onion #2	The second Yellow Onion is going to be found in Blossoming Arcadia after completing the Kingdom of the Beasts Cave.
Blue Onion #1	The first Blue Onion is also going to be found in Sun-Speckled Terrace near the southern pond.
Blue Onion #2	The second Blue Onion will be located in Serene Shores in a circle-shaped pool of water.
Light Blue Onion (Ice)	Once in Hero's Hideaway, the Light Blue Onion, also known as the Ice Onion, will be found in the freezer drawer at the bottom of the fridge after finishing the Frozen Inferno Cave.
Black Onion (Rock)	The Black Onion, also known as the Rock Onion, will be found in Giant's Hearth. Unfortunately, the main story will have to be completed in order to reach this Onion.
Pink Onion (Winged)	The Pink Onion, also known as the Winged Onion, will be found in the Primordial Thicket. Similar to the Black Onion, this one can only be obtained after Olimar has been rescued, but in this case, the Louie Dandori Battle must also be completed.
White Onion	Similar to the Black and Pink Onion, the White Onion also comes after rescuing Olimar. Specifically when playing Olimar's Shipwreck Tales and completing the 5th Dandori Battle in Pikmin 4.
Purple Onion	The process for this one is the same as the White Onion. It will be found when completing Olimar's Shipwreck Tales, but this time 10 Dandori Battles will need to be completed.

All Flarlic Locations

In addition to the traditional Onions of Pikmin 4, there is another Onion-looking object, which is technically referenced as being reminiscent of Garlic in the game, that is important to track down. It is known as Flarlic and is retrieved and rewarded through the same method as Onions and will resemble the look of a White Onion.

Once brought back to base, they will reward the player with an increase in their Pikmin surface capacity. There will be two in every area after the Rescue Command Post.

As opposed to the varying Onion colors, all the Flarlics look the same. They must be dug out of the ground the same way that Onions are. As with the Onions, they are spaced out over the various levels, but with two in each one. More specifically, one will be found on the surface of each area, and the second will be found in a Cave in each area of Pikmin 4.

Item	Location
Flaric 1	The first Flarlic will be found on the surface of Sun-Speckled Terrace. It will need Yellow Pikmin in order to reach it.
Flaric 2	The second Flarlic will also be in Sun-Speckled Terrace but inside the Last-Frost Cavern near some pots.
Flaric 3	The third Flarlic is once again on the surface, but this time in the Blossoming Arcadia area of Pikmin 4. Unfortunately, it's separated by water, so Blue Pikmin will be needed to transport it.
Flaric 4	The fourth Flarlic will be inside the Secluded Courtyard cave in Blossoming Arcadia. It can specifically be found on the third sub-level of the cave.
Flaric 5	The fifth Flarlic is technically on the surface of Serene Shores, but in this case, underwater. Blue Pikmin will be needed to free it and transport it.
Flaric 6	The sixth Flarlic is also in Serene Shores, specifically in the Seafloor Resort cave. Ice Pikmin will be needed to retrieve this one in Pikmin 4.
Flaric 7	The seventh Flarlic will be on the surface of Hero's Hideaway. Nothing special about this one other than throwing Pikmin to it like normal.
Flaric 8	The final Flarlic will be found in Hero's Hideaway inside the Plunder Palace cave. This one will require defeating an enemy blocking access to it first before it can be retrieved.
