Winged Pikmin are one of the numerous types of Pikmin available to players in Pikmin 4, but unlike Ice Pikmin or Glow Pikmin, the Winged Pikmin should be familiar to players of the previous games in the franchise. These Pikmin are incredibly useful in difficult terrain as their abilities allow them to reach areas other Pikmin may have difficulty with.

As with the majority of other Pikmin types, these pink little flying Pikmin are going to be found in the wild initially but can then be grown using their Winged Onion, which is pink in color just like them. Unfortunately, Winged Pikmin are among some of the hardest Pikmin Types to find in Pikmin 4.

How To Get Winged Pikmin in Pikmin 4

Unlike some of the early variants that can be discovered in the first area of the game, such as Yellow Pikmin in Pikmin 4, Winged Pikmin will not be discovered until later in the game. In fact, they will not be found until reaching Serene Shores and exploring the Below-Grade Discotheque.

Fortunately, once discovered initially, they should become easier to find throughout the rest of the game. Players should also that Oatchi in Pikmin 4 can help track down more Winged Pikmin, or any Pikmin for that matter, and lead players to a location where more of that type can be found.

As for the Winged Onion, it is Pink in color and obtained in the post-game area, Primordial Thicket. Post-game is also when players may find the Rock Onion as well.

After Olimar has been saved and the Dandori Battle with Louie has concluded, players will be able to reach the second base area of the Primordial Thicket.

Near this base, there will be a box blocking the path to the Winged Onion. Once it is out of the way, using other Pikmin to clear it, the Winged Onion can be picked up and carried back to base to allow players to have the option to grow Winged Pikmin.

Winged Pikmin are helpful in many ways since they can fly. Due to their wings, the Winged Pikmin can lift and move certain obstacles to allow players to under them and keep exploring.

Additionally, there are certain terrains that players and their Pikmin cannot or do not want to attempt to cross, and the Winged Pikmin can do it for them. Meaning that they are also very useful when transporting items in Pikmin 4. With their unique uses, they are arguably one of the most useful types in the game.
