The  Overwatch 2 is too similar to its predecessor.

A new trailer for Overwatch 2 recently premiered during the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase as part of Summer Games Fest 2022. The big reveal finally gave fans a new look at the game, alongside a host of new details on its future. The trailer contained several updates and announcements, including new hero designs, an October 4 release date, and the perhaps surprising news that Overwatch 2’s multiplayer will be free to play. Junker Queen, a new hero who had been alluded to in the first game, was also revealed. The character will be one of several new heroes fans will get to play as, and the spotlight confirmed Overwatch 2's Junker Queen is a Tank who uses battle axes and guns.

The next closed beta for Overwatch 2 will begin on June 28 according to an Overwatch announcement on Twitter, and fans can find out more details and starting tomorrow, June 16. This beta will include access to Junker Queen and a new map, and while PC players will get to try the game again, the new closed beta marks the first time PlayStation and Xbox owners can test it out. Nintendo Switch is the only platform not included in the closed beta.

As Overwatch 2's newest hero, Junker Queen has been the focus of Blizzard’s marketing during this year’s Summer Games Fest. One of the most significant differences between Overwatch 2 and its predecessor is the role of Tank heroes in a team’s dynamic. Team sizes have been reduced from six to five with the second tank getting benched. Due to this change, the developers of the game made tanks more aggressive and brutish. Doomfist’s shift from DPS to Tank is another indication of how the role is being emphasized.

It’s exciting that Overwatch 2 is getting another beta - especially one that console players can in with. Hopefully, with the announcement of s and the inclusion of PlayStation and Xbox owners, more people will be able to give the game a try, stress the servers out a little bit, and get a feel for the difference between the sequel and the original. The Nintendo Switch being left out of the beta odd because it is the only platform that Overwatch 2 will be releasing on that isn’t being invited to the party, though its very possible this is down to the limitations of the console. Fans can find out more details on the Overwatch 2 beta in the coming days.
