The return of State of Play was announced, fans were hopeful that there would finally be an announcement for God of War Ragnarök's release date, but the presentation focused mainly on Sony's third-party development partners and a look at what to expect from the launch of PlayStation VR 2.
There have already been multiple State of Play showcases in 2022, some of which focused solely on one game, namely Gran Turismo 7 before its release in March and the long-awaited gameplay reveal for Hogwarts Legacy. Other presentations have featured the usual variety, and the June 2022 State of Play was no different. Those hoping for more news on PlayStation exclusives will likely have to wait for a larger presentation, what Sony has typically dubbed a PlayStation Showcase in recent years.
PlayStation let fans know beforehand that Horizon Call of the Mountain for PSVR 2 would re-emerge following its reveal in January. Aside from that, viewers were heading into the State of Play mostly dark, but Sony delivered on its promise of more PSVR 2 games and information on titles from third-party developers. These third-party contributions included opening reveals from Capcom of the long-rumored remake of Resident Evil 4 and confirmation that Resident Evil Village will be coming to PSVR 2.

For many, the highlight will have been the State of Play's finale - a first look at Final Fantasy 16 gameplay and its release window being set for roughly a year from now. Although mostly focused on PlayStation consoles, the State of Play brought the major news that Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is coming to PC this August. Insomniac's open world action game featuring the famed web-slinger is one of the PS4's best-selling games, and is a notable inclusion in Sony's effort to bring more PlayStation games to PC.
