Despite being initially planned as a limited series, Poison Ivy's current comic will continue as an ongoing title. The titular villain icon's series, Poison Ivy (2022), has taken her down new paths. It began with a separation from Harley Quinn and is continuing to track her possible shift from villain to antihero.
Poison Ivy has the creative team of G. Willow Wilson, Marcio Takara, Jessica Fong, Arif Prianto, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. Previously, the series was planned to be only six issues long. However, in December 2022 it was extended for another six after the first arc concluded. Now, DC is announcing another extension coming this June. The new ongoing series will kick off with Poison Ivy #13.
Poison Ivy's Introductory & Arcs are Coming Soon
In addition to the shift from limited series to ongoing series, the release date for the first trade volume of Poison Ivy (2022) has been revealed. Collecting the first six issues, Poison Ivy Vol. 1: The Virtuous Cycle will arrive in stores on May 16. Fans will be able to read through the arc that began this highly successful run. Jessica Fong's cover for the arc's beginning issue has been shared by DC Comics. The next stage in the series continues Harley and Ivy's reunion, with new troubles on the horizon.
There sure is nothing quite like a romantic night with your sweetie in the swamp to make your mouth water. It's the dawn of a new day as Pamela Isley makes her return to Harley and Gotham City with a lovestruck Janet-from-HR in tow. The tension's so thick you could cut it with a fan boat's propeller!
Poison Ivy #9 recently released, reuniting the titular villainess with her ex for the first time since they separated in Harley Quinn's independent series. The Mistress of Mayhem broke up with her girlfriend to give her room to grow without direct influence. As a reformed villain who has now worked with Batman and the Bat-Family, Harley is well on the road to potentially becoming a hero. Contrarily, Poison Ivy received a major power-up and has been hesitant to change her ways. She suffered an identity crisis and has been working to find her new purpose. Now, she could very well be on a similar path to Harley's.
In her series, Poison Ivy has shifted goals, from targeting the person responsible for her initial transformation to becoming an enemy of environmental villains. While this isn't too far from her norm, Poison Ivy has done so in a way that has made her seem like she could potentially be an antihero in the near future. With this shift, it opens up the door for Ivy to turn over a new leaf alongside Harley instead of being independent of her. Ivy is reclaiming her abilities and her life one arc at a time, making the future of her series that much more exciting. Fans of Poison Ivy can read the next stages of her adventure when DC Comics' newest official ongoing series continues this June.
