Yet, a common theme that comes with this type of Pokémon is that many of them are often overlooked. A lot of this has to do with the fact that earlier generations just do not have that many of them. Thus, a lot of the most interesting Ghost-type Pokémon actually come from more recent generations. With so much wiggle room and places to go with future Ghost-type creations, the series has already made some truly unique Pokémon that are worth praise.

Chandelure

Chandelure shows just how innovative Pokémon can be. The series can make Pokémon out of virtually everything, and this is evident as they manage to have a cool Pokémon inspired by a chandelier.

It is spectacular that it is a Ghost-type, too, as it gives it a very scary vibe. Also, the fact that it is also a Fire-type really allows it to cause damage when the player elects to use it in battle.

Drifloon

Drifloon from the Pokémon series

Individuals who play Pokémon Go, for example, may be a bit bored of Drifloon always appearing. However, this should not impact the way you view this Pokémon, as it is quite an original.

For starters, the X over its mouth is rather interesting, as it makes the player question what exactly its purpose is. Also, they are always great to catch in the games because they turn into a powerful Pokémon in Drifblim.

Jellicent

Jellicent is essentially a cooler Tentacool and it is absolutely massive, while also being a Ghost-type, too. Its monstrous size helps this Pokémon's likability, as it makes it appealing to use in battle.

This series also warrants a ton of praise for being able to incorporate two very different types, Water and Ghost, while simultaneously creating such an awesome creature.

Duskull

Duskull epitomizes exactly what a Ghost-type should be. It floats like a stereotypical ghost, while also having a white mask as its face. It is a wonderful interpretation of the Grim Reaper, in fact.

It also evolves into Dusknoir, which, of course, is a very good Pokémon to have. However, the overall design of Duskull means it should receive far more praise than it actually does and it is often overlooked.

Pumkaboo

Pumpkaboo from the Pokemon series

Speaking of fantastic originality, Pumpkaboo is a prime example of a Pokémon that is completely original. Instead of making a Pokémon that is just a pumpkin, the series actually made this Pokémon have an animal of some kind on top of it.

It likely is a black cat, which is a wonderful mix, as it perfectly depicts a Halloween vibe. It may not be the Pokémon that gamers seek out the most, but it sure is a cool creation that is hard not to love.

Cofagrigus

Cofagrigus from the Pokémon series

Generation V has quite the strange Pokémon in Cofagrigus. It is rather terrifying in appearance, which of course is not a bad thing when it comes to a Ghost-type. It is a floating coffin that has glaring red eyes and sharp teeth. It also has four shadow hands to add to its creepiness.

Although this is a Pokémon that nobody would want to encounter in real life, every aspect of it is perfect for this type. It also does not hurt that it handles itself quite well if put into battle.

Mimikyu

Mimikyu from the Pokemon series

Mimikyu is a Ghost-type Pokémon that disguises itself as Pikachu. Although anyone who is a follower of the series can tell it's an imposter right away, it is a cool take with this creation.

It is not necessarily the strongest of Pokémon, but that does not mean the player should avoid catching it. With how rare and peculiar it is, it certainly is worth showing off to fellow gamers.

Sandygast

Sandygast from the Pokemon series

Sandygust is rather comical in appearance, as it is a pile of sand that also sports a wide-open mouth. It even has a shovel on the top of its head, too.

The entire storyline behind this Pokémon is rather riveting, too, as it quite literally sucks the life out of its opponents. For a goofy-looking creation, it certainly does pack a major punch.

Sableye

Sableye is a nice creation from the series, as it is definitely is able to do quite a lot in battle. Its smaller size does not impact its performance in a bad way, either, as it is very quick.

The gemstones as its eyes also is a cool twist, as well, and gives it quite a distinct characteristic. It is also a great Pokémon to get in games, as it can mega evolve, too.

Trevenant

A wild Trevenant kidnaps Ash in the Pokémon anime.

Trevenant is a wonderful mix of types, as it is both Grass and Ghost. It is a towering figure, too, as it is a giant tree that also has a bright red eye. Interestingly, it also is nice to fellow Pokémon in the anime series, which is irable given its Pokétype.

Furthermore, its appearance also is very original, as it a perfect mix of Grass and Ghost-types. This arguably could be considered one of the best from Generation VI, too.
