When perusing for your next Pokémon purchase on the Pokémon Center website, there are just about a million adorable things available at any given time, from cozy Pikachu plushies to minimalist home decor. However, every once in a while, the Pokémon Center unveils something just a little bit outside the normal cute aesthetic it's so well known for. With this recent drop, it might finally be too much.

Right now, you can head straight to the Pokémon Center's website, where you'll be greeted by some unexpected faces on the homepage or rather, one face in many forms. Ditto, the well-known Pokémon capable of taking other Pokémon's appearances, is ready to sneak its way into your home through one of the various new Ditto plush options, which feature it transformed into some of your favorite Pokémon.

Pokémon Center's Ditto Plushies Are More Creepy Than Cute

From Mew To Snorlax, Ditto's Face Is Everywhere You Look

Don't get me wrong, I love Ditto as a Pokémon on its own. Its beady little eyes and simplistic smile are somehow adorable on the small pink blob, but when it comes to pasting that face on Pokémon that are well known for their own distinctive features, those beady eyes feel less cute and more like they're staring into the pits of my soul with a creepy smirk to top it off. Now, as part of the new lineup, you can adopt a variety of your favorite Pokémon with that same horrifying expression.

Ditto Plushes Disguised As Every Eeveelution & More Take Over The Pokémon Center

Shape-shifting Pokémon Ditto has infiltrated the Pokémon Center, as more than 20 new Ditto plushies—including every Eeveelution—arrive in the store.

Ironically, this wasn't always meant to be the case for Ditto transformations. If you watched the Pokémon anime growing up, then you might an episode featuring a Ditto that kept its face when it transformed. It was heavily discussed in the episode that this is not what Ditto is supposed to do when transforming, and that doing so was a problem. However, in what was likely an effort to make Ditto transformations easy to identify, this idea went away, and keeping the face became the norm for Ditto transformation cards, plushies, and more.

That brings us to this latest drop, where the Pokémon Center is now overrun by Ditto's face on notable fan-favorite Pokémon, making what was once a place to find the most adorable Pokémon merchandise now something straight out of my nightmares, and reminds me of another recent trend in the Pokémon community. If you get Pokémon-themed posts on social media, you may have come across the popular Where's Ditto videos, where a looping video of a ton of one specific Pokémon will feature just one with a Ditto face for you to find.

Pros & Cons Of Pokémon TCG's Ditto Peel Mechanic Cards

The Pokémon GO TCG set is getting a Ditto card with artwork that can be peeled off. Here are all the pros and cons of the new Ditto peeling mechanic.

It's a somewhat startling process as you scan the faces line by line until you suddenly lock eyes with those small black dots staring back at you, and the comments often mirror a similar sentiment of unease once they've finally located Ditto. With this new drop, you can now get that same feeling on the Pokémon Center site as you go looking for an adorable Mew plush, only to be met with the surprise of Ditto's blank stare on Mew's body among a sea of normal and adorable Mew plushies.

Ditto Versions Of Pokémon Are Funny, But I Don't Want One In My House

Between Terrifying Ditto Faces & Life-Size Pokémon, I Don't Know What's Next For Pokémon Plushies

Since I adore Ditto on its own, I can appreciate the humor in these cursed plushies, but I simply don't think I would be able to endure the blank expressions staring back at me while I work, relax, or try to sleep, especially the Magikarp ones in particular. As someone who is scared easily, these plushies would likely freak me out more than they would amuse me. That being said, they're not the only ones, as Pokémon sells other plushies that are just as terrifying in their own ways.

Perhaps the only thing just as terrifying as Ditto's face from every direction is a human-sized plush, which the Pokémon Center also offers with its life-size Gardevoir plush and will soon be expanding with its life-size Eeveelution collection. That's right, now you too could be among the people having a heart attack every time they walk into a dark room in their house and see a large human-sized shape standing there. I thought life-size decor was something everyone agreed was a bad idea after the Cardboard Cutouts trend a few years ago, but I suppose not.

Regardless, if these Ditto plushies speak to you, then I'm glad the Pokémon Center made them. Pokémon has a bad habit of only pumping out plushies and merchandise focused on fan-faves. Since my favorite falls into that category, I have plenty of options to choose from, while those who have a less common favorite might only have a handful of items out there to choose from.

While it's not for me personally, seeing variety in the merchandise on the Pokémon Center site is never a bad thing, even if this drop does primarily focus on fan-favorites as well. I only hope the store continues to do more wacky things like this in the future with a larger variety of options, so that, regardless of your favorite Pokémon or personal taste in Pokémon decor, there's something on there for everyone to enjoy.
